Sure we will give up some big plays every team does. What I don't want us to do is hand it to them on a silver platter because we were not lined up or didn't understand the play call. Might be wrong have been before in my life I do like how this group of coaches came in and simplified it to focas on the fundamentals also was not afraid to point out the problem areas , special teams, S&C etc. After last season I was probably at my lowest point in my UGA fandom as I have ever been mainly because I could see no hope of change. Now at the very least we have had a change( to the better I believe ) so there is excitement in the program again.
DAWGtm, from where I sit, you are on the mark. There has been an uplifting feeling. Some here are in the wait and see area. Probably all of us are, but it is hard to deny that most posting here have moved away from pp'd off to "show me". That sure as hell beats where we were after the way the 2013 Season ended.
You made this statement . . . .
What I don't want us to do is hand it to them on a silver platter because we were not lined up or didn't understand the play call. High fives on that statement.
There will always be receivers like Sammy Watkins that are close to impossible to cover, especially for four quarters. Ain't gonna happen. AJ Green who played for us, could not be covered in the SEC and the pros are having the same problem.
Hand waving and finger pointing happened with Willie Martinez and todd grantham, have to say this . . . . hired by Mark Richt. Here is hoping that he got it right this time, and stays the hell out of the way. His background gives no reason to believe he can run a defense. That is not meant to be ugly, it is simply the truth. He played quarterback his entire football playing days. That does not qualify him as a defensive leader.
growl, has it. Two opening games will show us what we have.
First game at home, good thing. Second game in Columbia, will be nuts. Folks in South Carolina are beginning to believe that they have a football team. These two game will come close (close) to letting us know how "close" we get to the "final four" or where we stack up in the SEC.
