wlayton, YEAP we beat em' by two if I remember correctly. They were a VERY fast team and we didn't have an answer for them. Archie came in our locker room and said, "boys it is pouring down rain outside". We were all bumming and he said, "ya know what that means, they aren't going to be quite as fast anymore". I was paraphrasing there BTW. It did get us pumped up and gave us some faith. We went on to win State that year 86'.

Congrats on that State Championship! What school did you play for?

sflanagan21, when you mentioned Lakeside, brought back many memories of Wayman Creel. He coached at Northside prior to moving to Lakeside. Super human being and football coach. Takes me back to the 50's and early 60's. Creel was riding his bike and had a heart attack. Sad day for many. Should have coached college football, was offered, stayed with high school.
