That's right put all the attention on Clowney. That worked real well for UNC. It ain't just Clowney.........they got other players also whom are pretty damn good at what they do...

I don't recall saying put all attention on him and him alone, but I do think you need to account for him and have a plan.

If you don't , then so be it.....

and good luck with that.

How do we attack Clowney (and I do mean attack)? I think that playing passive and just trying to counter his moves is asking for trouble, especially with our NO-line on that side. We can't let him dictate...

So do we try and chip him every down with QH? Do we double team full time? Do we run Gurley right over the guard early to try and keep him reacting to us instead of us reacting to him? I sort of like that notion, but we didn't run well inside against Clemson (something we failed to notice as we tried and tried again unsuccessfully). I would love to trap inside of him, but I have let's say... a certain lack of confidence in that side of the line right now.

We all know he's going to make plays, but we have to limit those plays to routine tackles after a gain of a couple or three vs. impact, game changing, turnover type plays.

So play coach and tell me how you are going to game plan for what he brings.

Wartdawg, I like all of the ideas you mentioned above to be used in an attempt to slow down Clowney. I think we should run at him early & often for sure & I think we should rollout Murray away from him at least a few times to keep him guessing & make him play chase. A bootleg to his side would be a nice curveball as well but possibly too risky (if he reads it well Murray would be better off to just fall on the ground like a shot dog) so maybe just flinging a screen pass or two to his side might have the same effect. I definitely think a combination of the 1st two things you suggested are in order, either chip him with the Fullback or double-team him w/the TE or 2 O-linemen on nearly every single passing play.

We can win this game if we protect the ball & stop the run both of which we failed to do in game 1. I don't think Shaw or their other QB can beat us without a successful running game but I also don't think we have a prayer of winning if we lose the turnover battle again.

Wart, I agree. Better know where he is at. Have to try to run the football right at him. Make him play physical early and let the physicality wear on him a little should slow him down. I understand people saying you can't just worry about one player, and I agree, but this guy is a different breed. I love our talent, but we do not have a player that matches the talent level of Clowney. Better know where he is. On the flip side, if I was KG, I would be looking at it as a great opportunity. Gates has a chance to prove himself. That would be my mindset anyway.

On D, limit the big plays. Last year, 4 big plays early, and score is out of hand. Thursday night against UNC, big plays early and the game gets out of hand.

Lot of thoughts going on in my head about this game. Trying to keep it simple. TACKLE

I have tried to stay quite and not speak my mind, but did most see the same game I saw. I still don't think Clemson is that good. I think we are just that bad. AM still chokes I big games, we still can not block or pass protect, still can not tackle. It has been 4 years, and we still have the Martinez D. What is it they these coaches can't teach them to tackle with their arms and not try to knock them down with their shoulders.

This is the same O that played SC last year, and no running back could gain a year, why do you think they will do any better this year, is it because we are in Athens, this line can not block, Gurley got his yards on his own breaking tackles, was not holes for him. USC D will be twice as tough and Conner Shaw will run for over 100 years on our so called new and improved D. AM will be sacked 6 times, not by just clowney, but by Hollomon from the other side, fumble, throw 2 picks, so yes you can count this game as a loss.

I am sorry to be such a downer, and give you guys no hope for a victory, but also read several articles, where even SS said this game is in the bag and his team will play for the NC . He also said UGA does not consider SC as a rivary but when he beats them for the 4th times, then maybe we will take them serious. Said that UGA fans don't like him for he has UGA number, had it a Fla and now has it at USC, for will work on the 7 game win streak he had on us when he was at fLA.

Duck, better you say it out loud, holding it in sometimes makes it worse.

Not much to disagree with, just keep my fingers crossed. South Carolina will come to play.

Richt has the players in pads, think he agrees with you. You certainly are right about Gurley breaking tackles . . . . at the line of scrimmage. Marshall did same on his short TD run.

Over many years have watched a lot of backs do real well with offensive lines that perform. Call it the Saban way. Hard for top notch backs to accomplish much without that wall.

Hope that Gurley does not push it too far, small injuries, or aches and pains sometime lead to more serious problems. Lattimore went through some of that, see where that ended up.

Noticed that Todd Grantham is getting a bit "edgy" in his pressers. Young defense or not, if teams know that they can run, they will. These defensive players are the property of Todd Grantham. Will get a better feel during and after this Saturday's game.

Realize how much all Georgia games mean to you, but South Carolina . . . . off the charts for Duck.
