Manny Diaz is proving himself as an able D Cordinator at Texas and previously at Middle Tenn. Just a lot of good ones out there to not try to hire them away.

Ellis Johnson is going to work wonders at Aubuurn.

Names you mention are on top of their game for sure. Don't think I would compare Kirk Olivadotti and Willie Martinez.

Just a thought about Olivadotti. If the job becomes available (which I don't think it will) the higher ups will have a list to choose from.

Ellis Johnson is not really going into a school that has no talent. He is going to a place that has dug itself a huge hole with their lack of discipline. That ends with Ellis Johnson.

Funny how we don't hear anything about BVG. Once upon a time he was the "man" in Athens.

Not really comparing CKO with WM Buc. Just saying that we are a big time program that plays in the toughest conference, just not a place for an unproven or for a coach who has never been a DC to cut his teeth so to speak. Not saying that CKO would do a bad job, are we willing to take a chance on someone with no experience. Been there done that and it did not work out.

Respect you and your knowledge ogredawg. Everyone on this board is looking for bigger and better things, not a time to slip or step back. My confidence is growing day by day with McGarity riding herd. McGarity will not let us slip back into the sins of our past . . . . a lesson he learned from Foley. imo

Good stuff here fellas.

I 100% agree w/Wartdawg. I am a HUGE believer that ball control can win games that would otherwise be losses. For the most part, I find nothing more disheartening to the opposing team than to sustain a 80 yard TD drive & run 8 minutes off the clock in the process. Long drives can totally deflate the opposing D & get the opposing O out of rythmn simultaneously as they sit watching, like spectators, on the sidelines. Would definitely like to see improvement in this aspect of our offense. That said, a big play (80 yd. bomb) can have an equally deflating effect to the opposition but a lot has to do with the flow of the game, what is happening on the other side of the ball, time on the game clock, etc.. It's a fact that long drives help rest your own defense, quick scores serve a purpose too but giving your own D a break is certainly not one of them.

As for Coach TG, I have NO CLUE what he will do? Hoping to heck he stays put in Athens for a long time but...would really HATE to see him go prior to Nt'l Signing Day because I have no doubt we will lose a recruit or two (maybe more) if he leaves Athens. However, I rest easily at night knowing that the UGA program is much bigger than any 1 man & that we will survive with or without CTG.

Haven't posted in a while, but really enjoyed this thread. I'll admit, I still can't get over the heartbreak of the SECCG & probably never will. We played our hearts out & came up 5 yards short in the waning seconds. So proud of our boys efforts even in defeat but I do still agonize over the "what ifs". Rewatched the game on DVR last weekend & saw lots of missed opportunities. Oh well, I guess it's past time to move on & I do think the future is brighter than it has been for years in the Classic City. I feel that the 2012 UGA Football TEAM swayed many of the non-believers to support CMR in his quest for another SEC Title & for that elusive MNC. Time will tell but I really like the direction of our program & wouldn't trade places with ANYBODY in the country including the folks in Tuscaloosa. WHEN Saban leaves, the Tide will drift away again; I firmly believe that UGA has the legacy, the attractiveness, the administration, the funding, the fan base, & the talent base that will keep us near or at the top of the SEC for a long, long time!

Go Dawgs-Time to finish the drill on the recruiting trail!

What we need is an offense that can score quickly and a defense that is off the field with lots of 3 and outs, so you can't really blame the offense for scoring quickly if the other team gets out of the way. Stiffen up the D and theres nothing to worry about.:)

I to have not posted in awhile, one reason, I have been out of town for 10 days. I just got home yesterday, and saw this thread. Buc, I feel like you aimed this thread at me. I know I have posted negitive and wait and see post, but gee, I and my family are probably the biggest dawg fans on this board. I have been on this site for years, and I have never posted that much. I have never claimed to be smarter than some on here. Heck over half on here just blow my mind at the knowledge they have. I am the type person, I just have my feelings, and I just don't buy into preseason hype ect. When the season first started and we didn't blow off Bufflo and Fla Atlantic ran up and down the field on us, I was upset, and I did blame the players for lack of effort or caring. If this makes me a fake supporter, then I guess you can call it what ever way you want. I never mean to step on anyone toes, I just call it as I see it.

I think BoBo did a really good job this year, if it was him and not CMR, I guess we'll really never know. I still have my doubts about CTG, for after 3 years under him, our D still look lost at times. I think ST improved this year, and our OL did better than expected.

Now back to the fan things, I have an office done in red and black, with pictures, trophys from my HS, tons of UGA nick nats. I have a signed picture with my grandson and CMR from where I took him to G day, my grandson also attend the UGA football camp for HS kids. I have the state UGA car tag, front and back, most of my clothing is UGA. I can't eat during a game, I get so nervous. I know this probablys means nothing to most on here, for things do not make you a fan, but I truely love UGA .

I can't promise that I will not bash CMR or the team in the future, for if we lose to Clemsun and USC and start off 0-2, I will probably be my old self and say we will win only 3 or 4 games. It is only because I am disappointed and want us to do well every year.

One other thing before I'll stop, you are right Buc, we all do need to post through out the year rather than just 5 or 6 months out of the year. I don't like basketball, not crazy about baseball, so for me not much to talk about buring non football or spring seasons. I will try to participate more during non football times.

There has been some talk on this board about Mark Richt changing his methods as a head football coach. Think most would agree that the Mark Richt today is not the same Mark Richt that took the Georgia coaching job way back when. Also think it can be said that the Mark Richt of today is not the same Mark Richt we watched two or three seasons back. Looking around, came up with this piece from The Lady Sportswriter. Appears that Kimberley Nash has some of the same thoughts.
