On your 3,4 and 5 answers, I truly believe Buffalo had zero chance of winning that game and even though the coaches/players will never admit it they knew it too. That may be why the offense and D showed nothing to Mizzou. Our players were simply too far superior to LOSE the game, 22 point win was the worst possible scenario imo.
And I certainly believe in #5. I've been there and you probably have as well, where it just doesn't take 100% effort to win the game/match......you preach/yell at yourself to get it in gear but it just doen't come to fruition. I've seen this many times in sports.....
What I'm most worried about today is not having our starters on D and Theus getting hurt. Guys had better step up next week.
Btw.....love your avatar.
Believe me, wlayton, YOU have not upset me in the least. My alma mater's football team did that Saturday. This game has me shook up. Bad. Just like Colorado a few years ago. There is just no excuse for this. I realize we "won" by 22 points, but this would have been FAR easier to take had our defense done ANYTHING.
Yes, the paper bag just went back on. I'll take it off once our team shows me something. So far, with a few notable exceptions, they have only shown me that Buffalo had guys with my speed in their secondary.
Here are my POSITIVES from that game:
1. Todd Gurley. Hershel Walker? No. But Garrison Hearst? So far. He is THE MAN right now.
2. Keith Marshall. Todd Gurley? Not quite, but he doesn't have to be. The kid threw some hits and got an extra yard or two. Go back and watch, and you'll see a RB.
3. Merrit Hall. Mack Strong? No. Verron Haynes? No. But a kid who WANTS contact, and is willing to BUST SOME LB'S CHOPS? HEAD HUNTER ON A MISSION? I think so.
4. Michael Bennett. Watched the game again. After wiping the bile off my lips, I realized Bennett is a gamer. Would have had a better game if the coaching hadn't been on vacation.
5. Thinking . . . thinking . . . thinking . . . nope. Can't find a fifth thing to like from Saturday.
Yesterday was sad. But that's true for the Gay-tors, Wisconsin, Stanford, Michigan, and I would argue Oregon.
Can I get over it? Sure. But that is ENTIRELY under the control of the UGA football team. 11 games of kicking rear end, and I'll believe and that bag comes off in shreds.
