Coaching, Recruiting Thoughts

Started to post this in another thread, however think that it fits well here. Also notice that UGA is being mentioned as signing a defensive back, kick/punt returner soon. No mention of offensive linemen at this point. Used the word "dense" in another thread, sticking with it.

UGA signed 17 players who will count toward their 2012 Recruiting Class. That
means that UGA could sign up to 8 players as early enrollees that would count to
their 2012 class before they reached the 25-limit. Then if UGA signed a full 25
in the 2013 recruiting class UGA would technically have added 33 scholarship
players. Even adding 33 scholarship players in 2013 will leave UGA at least 7
scholarship players beneath the limit.

Once you get stuck behind the 8-ball with a lack of players on scholarship it is
very difficult to get back up to that 85-number because each year you are
losing players to graduation, the NFL, medical attrition, and unexpected
problems. If you do the math with the way our roster is set up over the next
two seasons it will likely be 2014 or 2015 before we have 85 “real” scholarship
players again.

When teams are oversigning every season you cannot undersign and still expect to
win championships consistently. UGA needs to be a consistent contender.
Coaches, players, and fans should no longer accept any excuses for undersigning!

Inexcusable for the University of Georgia to not reach the 25 recruit limit.
For those who think Richt is doing is such a great job, what part of dumb do you not understand?
Especially in light of recent OL decimation.
Even more irritating is his rather condescending response to any criticism of his recruiting errors.

averagedawg, looking over some sites where the class of 2013 is being mentioned. Once again we have great news about running backs and quarterbacks.

Those being mentioned for the down in the dirt positions, supposedly some very good players, bet the farm on some of Georgia's very best crossing the Alabama State Line. If I were a betting man, would bet that there are already "several" commits for Tuscaloosa much like the Dalvin Tomlinson charade that played out and his words were used to explain why and what his reasons were.

Simple questions.

Why do players of great football skills choose Saban over Richt?

Going to hurt when Kirby Smart takes over the Tennessee job.

Why is it that Mark Richt ends up short of his alloted quota and a sophomore head coach in Gainesville kicks his butt on the recruiting trail. According to the recruiting services we ended up 11th on most polls. Fifth on ESPN. 5th on ESPN still leaves us behind Muschamp with basically a new supporting cast of coaches on his staff.

We continue to recruit in this fashion, how long before we fall back into the "Jacksonville Trap"? Florida dressed us down for many years and it appears they did not like last years outcome.

Meyer moves to Ohio State, a team that is on probation, no bowl game or conference championship and they out recruit us . . . . something is wrong in Athens.

Buc, God help me if Kirby Smart replaces Dooley, a real possibility with the new Tn AD and Smart's ascension in the coaching ranks.
I hear all the Saban trashing but believe me, Nick Saban wants Kirby Smart to get a premiere head coaching job.
Maybe Dooley can feed the Tn fan base enough red meat this year to keep his job.
Smart at Tennessee equals trouble for Georgia recruiting, as if we need more trouble.
