Coaching, Recruiting Thoughts

Saban pushes recruiting rules to the limit.
He is target no. 1 because of his recent successes.
The same thing is done by LSU, Stanford and other schools.
The system in place almost demands over recruiting, greyshirting, if you are going to succeed.
My understanding is both those kids knew before signing day they we're going to have to greyshirt.
It works both ways. Too many of these high school kids waffle back and forth, commit, decommit and then change teams at signing day, some just for their moment of "glory."
Big time college football is a cutthroat business, like it or not.
While some may question Saban's character, he has violated no NCAA rules, nor is he going anywhere.

All good points averagedawg. Do believe those kids had made their committment for a year though......doesn't matter, it is what it is.

Saban probably has no problem looking into his mirror as long as he has his NC trophy on his sink.

Bottom line.....we all have to "live" with the decisions we make.

Integrity and incompetence are not necessarily related, perhaps just when it applies to Richt's recruiting acumen.

Hard to argue that point averagedawg, on point. Even Buck Belue seems to be a bit concerned, and that is out of character for him when discussing Mark Richt or Mike Bobo.

How did we get in this shape on the recruiting side of things . . . . maybe our head coach thinks he is running a "reform school". Over the past few years there have been a lot of young men that don't seem to want to reform.

Happened to Urban Meyer while at Florida, he developed health problems and left a confused situation to go to Ohio State and straighten that program out. Hello . . . .

Buc, I'm with you and wart. I have accepted the fact Richt is gonna be around awhile.
While I might appreciate his sincerity of trying to help some of these troubled kids, as I have said before, his job description is to win football games.
Some of these kids play him like a fiddle.
My dad was a preacher, but I'll tell you what, I often experienced his wrath. He scared the hell out of me.
I don't think CMR scares the hell out of anybody.

If I were Saban, would not have a problem with where the Alabama program is, also saw where Mark Richt was hit with a secondary violation . . . again. Have not seen that being written about Saban and his program this recruiting session. Face it folks, these guys (Saban and others) are in this business, (yes business) to win football games.

Ever wonder why Kirby Smart has been so close to Saban. Think that when he moves on to a head coaching position that Kirby Smart will do a 180 degree turn from what he has learned under this "rule bending" Saban. Got some land to sell in Florida if you subscribe to that formula.

Ready for this . . . would not surprise me if Kirby Smart remains in Tuscaloosa and is the replacement for Saban, when Saban chooses to do that.

Saban has one more thing to do at Alabama and that is to bring Miles to his knees. Not about money anymore, it is all about who is the best. Anyone want to cast votes on that topic?
