Not because of any reason other than the fact that coaching at the University of Georgia is a better job than the Tennessee job. Tennessee is no longer the mecca of aspiring coaches, contrary to what their stupid fan base would have you believe.
As Buc says, Saban truly cares for and appreciates Kirby Smart.
averagedawg, I truly think that Saban has respect for Mark Richt. He proved that during the "blackout". Alabama could have beaten us by any number that Saban wanted to. That is a damn fact. Let us not fool ourselves, we post here like we know everything, we don't. Saban will kick anyones butt and move on to the next "project". Another FACT.
Saban understands recruiting, coaching and . . . . how to make money. Even understand "gray shirting". Lots of folks understand one of the three, your guess . . .
First let me say (said in another post), I think Saban is the best HC in college football.......
That last line above got me thinking about an email I got from my friend that I occassionally get info from about the Dawgs. I found the email and it addresses that last sentence and found it very interesting so wanted to see what people's response would be......imho, while CMR is no Saban on many fronts......integrity should mean something and I do want a coach that has integrity. Winning at all costs is temporary, integrity is for life........read his email below......ya'll may already know about it, if so, my bad.
Bama gets whoever they want in recruiting. They are a machine, and they are taking most of who they want in Georgia too. However, Saban is slimy when it comes to recruiting. Did you see where he “informed” two long time commitments that they were going to have to greyshirt (enroll in spring of 2013) if they still wanted to come to Alabama? That’s because they had too many really good players who decided by signing day that they were willing to accept offers from Alabama. Some of them didn’t commit until signing day. One of the guys that was asked to greyshirt had been committed to Alabama for a year. He signed with Kentucky. The other longtime Alabama commit wore an Alabama hat to his signing ceremony. He was borderline in tears, and he signed with Arkansas, a place he had never even visited, after Saban pulled the rug from underneath him. There’s nothing wrong with Greyshirting as long as the player knows that’s the deal. However, to tell guys that have been longtime commits that they can no longer enroll with their classmates just because they aren’t seen as being as valuable as other members of the class by the coaches is just plain wrong. I’m amazed that the SEC hasn’t gotten involved, but I guess they cater to the almighty Saban as well…
