I like how the 3-4 D works but the points that have been scored concerns me a lot.

IMO, I think the jury is still out on the 3-4 scheme but if the D continues to allow the points that it has, my thoguhts will be turning back to the traditional D.

Watching the CC game, I found it hard to make a judgement call on their performance. I mean, we were basically playing a high caliber high school team.

I believe if the OL steps up and protects Murray and opens some holes for our backs along with the D keeping the opposing team to <20 pts big things will happen.

Seems to me whether we are creating a new business or putting new wraps on our football team, might take a tad longer than one football season.

The experiment was taking a defense that was in many folks opinion, a total mess and see if it could be reborn. I don't think that the birth has happened as yet, I do see signs of life that I was not witnessing prior to Grantham.

I would ask this question. Would Jenkins have moved his membership from Oklahoma State to Georgia if WM had remained as head DC? Would Richt have done anything differently with the defense had not Grantham cast his vote with UGA?

Another thing that might be going unnoticed, we are not always in a 3/4, not out of the ordinary to see 4/3 and other variations. With some of the things that have happened to us on the D side of the ball, have to go a bit slower when trying to bring freshmen along. We are playing a lot of younger folks this season, and quite frankly that excites me. Where would this defense be at this point if the starting group had remained in tact. Yes I know, all teams have injuries. We certainly are having our share . . . again. That is not an excuse, just a fact.

Should get a much better feel for our D this Saturday. Might not be the best team in the SEC, Ole Miss does however have some athletes that can and will cause problems. This will be more of a shake down cruise for Grantham and his players. We can expect the unexpected from a team that is being flamed in the press, much like UGA was getting under the guidance (or lack of) under Willy Martinez.

One last shot . . . wonder if "Tree" would make any difference at all if he were playing. Maybe we see the emergence of another "star" athlete in the near future.

Kind of curious what the impact of our offense going with the no huddle has had on the D. That with the fact that we're scoring pretty quick at times and the D is back out on the field. Not sure if there's any correlation or not. Also, would have love to see how the D looked like with Tree in the middle against Lattimore and the Gamechickens. Oh well, guess that's history at this point.... Looking forward to seeing the DAWGS nail our first SEC win this weekend!!!!GATA

Houston Nutt on UGA Footall . . .

“They are a good football team that is very athletic. They have a good quarterback in Aaron Murray and a good running game. They have good receivers. Their defense has been flying around. They could easily be 3-0 if you look at their film from playing Boise State and South Carolina. They were right there. They are a lot like us because they didn't make plays when they could have. They lost two games that were very close. They are athletic and Jarvis Jones is a very good defensive end. They can move him around and he is very good. Brandon Boykin their cornerback is fast and you have to watch him on special teams. They are a typical Georgia team.”

I agree the defense can be better but I too feel the offense puts them in more than their fairshare of bad spots.

If you look at history most teams that have quick strike high scoring offenses usually have defenses that give up a lot of points. Defense is just on the field too long. Hopefully, if Crowell continues to improve, a consistent running game will give the D a break.

I didn't get to watch or listen to the CC game but in the previous games the no huddle offense has not really increased the tempo any, they were still not snapping the ball until less than 7 seconds left on the play clock.

Some are wise and some are otherwise !
