Rebuilding UGA Football

Boise is all that. Pulling for them, hard workers, well coached.

Looks like South Carolina has really stepped into more trouble than was once expected, according to some of the things I am reading and listening to this a.m. If all is true, Columbia is going to be a sad place.

AllDawgs5, I have nothing but respect for you. Comes to football and especially UGA football, you don't back up to or down from anyone. Most of us know that this team has a lot of SEC quality players, just have to get them to that level. We stay healthy, talent could make up for some coaching miscues.

It is showtime right now for this season, traveling to Mississippi where folks love their football as much as we do, crowd will be hostile. Ole Miss thought they were going to handle Vanderbilt, goes to show, no sure things in SEC football.

UGA has the talent, now we find out what kind of road team this group is.

Word of caution, sometimes these teams that take a licking, come back kicking. Ole Miss will give a lot of effort this Saturday. Now is the time to turn the Dawgs loose.

Edit: Had to put this crap in from "Bucky". Protecting Bobo again. Pointing out names also, this guy is worse than awful. Writes like he played football.

Coach Richt says, "we are a team on the rise." Well, we see about that this Saturday in Oxford. The Rebels stink right now, but going on the road in the SEC is rarely easy. This should be a "baby step" test this week.
On defense, the Rebels can't stop the run. No wonder Richard Samuel is anxious to get back in there, after missing last week with a heel issue. Isaiah's ribs are sore, but he says he'll be ready to go too. Vandy ran for 280 yards on this unit. Time to pound the rock.
Spoke with a former SEC O-Line coach yesterday and he wasn't real impressed with the 'Dogs OL. Ben Jones was described as "OK." Cordy Glenn is "a guard playing tackle" and that's not an endorsement. And those 2 guys are our best 2 OL.
Because of our situation on the OL, Coach Bobo has to continue to use the "Smoke & Mirrors" Approach. Do a little of this and a little of that. Mike will continue to get criticized, but those in the know understand that the issue isn't play-calling...it's a below average O-Line.

right on wlayton...definitely not trying to rationalize. Just seen a good bit of negative comments directed at the defense recently. I know this is just my opinion, but I personally believe the defense has been done a horrible disservice by the offense lately, even into the last few games of last year.

It's definitely a three-phase, team sport and when one phase doesn't do their job, another one struggles. I just feel like the defense has taken some undue shots because of turnovers, bad field position, and quick 3 and outs by the offense.

I know the flipside is to say that LSU and BAMA's defense would get the offense out of those jams, and trust me, I'm not saying our defense is anywhere near LSU's or BAMA's...YET. There's still some missed assignments, missed tackles, etc. but I love the fact that we're seeing some attitude out of our defense again. We're not far off....

"..but those in the know"..

Ah yes, once again... unless you played football for UGA 30 years ago, you are incapable of
rationally analyzing the situation.

LSU and Alabama have better defensive players. That's just what it is.
Grantham is doing a good job with what he has.
Until we start recruiting those big guys up front, offense and defense, we will never rise to their level.
One thing about Nick Saban, like him or not, whether they're up 5 tds or down 2, he never quits coaching, in those kids' face, a hands on coach, not afraid to let them have it.
No insults intended to Richt but you gotta have somebody that can do that and Grantham can.
Probably why a certain college president hates him.

..and who decides who we recruit? Pretty sure that's Richt and staff. Our problems may very well
be weak lines, but that doesn't absolve the coaching staff from responsibility. I mean how can
you go into a season leaning on the health of TSturdivant to avoid a complete disaster on the O-line?

I should have said how MANY TIMES can you go into a season depending on the health of
TSturdivant to avoid disaster on the O-line.
