Uh oh. We don't need more defections, especially off the OL.

From AJC.com

"Rising junior A.J. Harmon is leaving the Georgia football team for “personal reasons,” according to UGA’s sports communication office.
Harmon

Harmon

Harmon, who projected as a potential starter at right tackle for the Bulldogs, intends to “transfer to another institution,” according to a very brief new release distributed Tuesday. No other information was immediately available. However, Harmon’s departure coincides with the completion of UGA’s spring semester. Harmon had to sit out the Liberty Bowl last December due to an academic-related suspension.

Neither Harmon nor head coach Mark Richt could be reached for comment."

thriller, offensive line is and should be a major concern. Scares the heck out of me. Made the following statement above.

Folks, my biggest concern is the offense. Still not sure that we have a solid coordinator. Not sure that we understand games are won on the line of scrimmage.

All of this talk about using this player here and that player there on the offensive side, better figure out how to get some folks in the pits to open some holes and protect our quarterback.

Just saying . . . .

Don't really expect anyone in Athens to say much about Harmon. What can be said. Think most of us know that this young man had a hard time with the books. There should not be shame, or blame for his recruitment.

This is what I would like to see Harmon do . . . . go to a school that he can play the game of football. Do the best he can do with furthering his education. With his size, his best chance of making a living comes from playing football. Take a young fellow like this, put him with Coach JTII or someone like him and Harmon has a chance to make himself be all that he can be.

In high school Harmon was recognized for his talent on the football field, not in the classroom. Certain things are not only expected but demanded when these young folks go to college, supposedly demanded by the NCAA and others.

I looked back through the recruiting of Harmon, the all star game and all of the schools that wanted this young pup to wear their colors. There were MANY. For whatever reason, Harmon did not make it at UGA. He is not the first, nor will he be the last.

Looking around the internet, makes me want to puke. Folks want to trash Harmon because he did not make it. Would love to look at some of the "FIRST" posters in other media areas and check their SAT's. Maybe check to see if they have ever put the pads on.

College football is a complicated game, with complicated rules (not understood or enforced by the NCAA) and led by those that are trying to keep their jobs (including the NCAA) . . . . maybe at others expense.

There was much excitement on this board when Harmon committed, know that includes me.

Our coaches recruited Harmon, as many others did. Who is at fault, maybe the system.

Go Dawgs . . . . coach'em up.

Best pass defense is a good pass rush. Hope for improvement in that area.

Spot on southernlover. Most probably have read the quote below from Jenkins, know I did. Very interesting comment he makes about the first two games.

Again, not side stepping Boise State, they do scare me. However John's comment extended out to the second game. South Carolina is going to be a war, be surprised if the Hedges remain after this battle. He has not put the Red and Black on yet and he is aware of SS and his troops. Think maybe the coaches are preparing the players early?

“I get people asking me about this and asking me about that and it’s like people are just predetermining things,” he said. “I’d just say if you don’t see me at Georgia, then you can start worrying. But I’m going to be down there June 3 with my teammates getting ready for Boise State and South Carolina and everybody else.”

It’s yet another blow to the offensive line. I feel ok about our starters, but there are no backups with any experience whatsoever now… Not a good thing when you’re talking about guys that are involved in contact on every play. If a guy goes down (and there usually are offensive line injuries over the course of a year) I’m afraid we could be in big trouble.

OL is NOW my biggest concern with the team by a country mile. It has passed our safety issues (no pun intended).
