Good Morning All,

Enjoying the pretty weather we are having and I took some time to look back at last spring (2010) with some reflections.

2010 –After spring ball who was going to be our starting QB?

ZM
LG
AM

2011 – finds two of the three no longer at UGA – AM is the best SEC QB, And before all is done may be the best QB in college football. He is working harder than ever to get better, and is driving his teammates to do the same.

2010 – The best “O” line in college football – running game will pickup and go just like the Tech and A&M Bowl game. Not an area of concern.

Fact check – we didn’t get the job done…sub par running game with a group of backs that courted off the field troubles rather than making first downs.

2011 – New “O” line coach – TS out with knee for the year, anchor BJ still in the middle has fire in the gut to get the job done. Won’t put up with any crap. WE has left the team. Less talk more work and this group will turn the line play around. The door is open for IC and others. IC does not have to be all world, just play and learn the SEC game. Talent will rise, the sooner he learns to block and protect the QB his PT time will increase.

2010 – “The Best Wide out in College football” AJ Green!!!

Fact Check- AJ was/is a great player. No matter how great a player is they can’t help the team while standing on the sideline. Major mental judgment error cost us. Game five found us in a hole we never got out of.

2010- Bring on the 3-4 defense and a new DC-gone was bend and break WM. It took a very short time for us to learn CTG was from the same school as Erk. If it moves hit it hard, then hit it again.

2011 – 3-4 is in the second year with CTG. He went out and found a NT and got a favorable surprise from one already here. Hired a new linebacker coach with years of NFL experience. Without question we will be much improved on “D”.

I have spoken many times here about Father Joe- He is without question in my mind the “X” factor for this coming season. What he has brought to the table is a renewed passion for winning football games the Georgia way. He has our player’s bigger, quicker and most important ready to play hard all four quarters.

Stay healthy, coach the players up and we will all be happy campers.

With the USC game now said to be at night on ESPN we have two back-to-back weeks on the big stage. Opportunity! Place your markers gents. Come Sept. 17th Russ is 2-0. It is only May and I am already jacked.

Buc, I hope your “Boil” went well and your trip to the VA has everything back on track.

We are blessed, stop and give thanks.

Have a safe weekend and a great week. Even with the WE story it was AQWIA. Love it more with each passing week!

As always “Go Dawgs”

Go Dawgs!

yd1, excellent post! Again!

Your post is similar to my own views. Where were we wrong last year? We were all worried about the QB, which should have been our last worry. We were confident that the line would be the best in the SEC - wrong. We had a stable of great RBs - wrong. The defense would gel by the Miss. State game - well, sort of.

Now - we know we have the best QB in the conference - right?

The line will be fired up and in better condition and able to shove the line of scrimmage down the opposition's throat in the 4th quarter - right?

Tavares King will step up and be that deep threat we need, with sure hands and precise route running to keep secondaries dizzy all game - right?

Isaiah Crowell will come in and we won't miss Ealy for 5 minutes. He'll be the explosive RB we've been missing since KM - right?

Our defensive line will shut down opposing RBs and terrorize QBs - live in their nightmares - right?

Our safeties and corners will - ok, we have very little expectation here.

Our new "Dream Team" is going to come in and take some starting jobs and give us a great season and keep us expecting more for the future - right?

And finally - the coaching is going to take the program back over and make winners out of the 4 and 5 star talent we've been signing for YEARS - right?

It's possible that the answer to all of these questions is "d@$@ straight"! I sure hope so.

But either way, it's always great to be a DAWG!!!

yankeedawg1, looking back brings many thoughts.

One piece of action that I particularly like is the continuing efforts of Grantham. Man knew what "he" needed to make his side of the ball work more effectively. Hard work paid off for Grantham it appears. Doubled down on the bet and wallah . . . appears to have two more than competent NT's.

yd1, if this group of Olinemen come along, develop (and they must do that quickly, Atlanta looms) think this team has more than a 50/50 chance of turning this program around. Like you say, Jones leads this bunch and I have no doubt that he would run into a wall for UGA.

Friend was an All-SEC offensive lineman at Alabama in the middle 1990s, understands SEC football. Friend might be the "find" that the offensive side of the ball needed, just as it appears Grantham was for the defensive side.

You have mentioned Coach JTII many times on this board. Think of you when his name is mentioned in the media, just as I think of wlayton when IC's name is mentioned. Both of these men young and (older :) ) can and I hope will turn our fortunes around.

Boil was terrific . . . . crab and shrimp light most folks up. Personally love the fresh sweet corn on the cob. Sausage not bad . . . . Thanks for the VA wish. Lots of young folks need our prayers and respect. Keep the posts coming my Brother.

Go Dawgs . . .coach'em up!! Erk was a force.

Al 3 great posts.......thriller brought up the corners/safeties. Believe we will be pretty good at the corners but our "achilles heel" WILL be at safety. We are super vunerable at safety so our DL and LB's had better get to the QB's......ESPECIALLY against Boise St. If we don't Moore will eat us alive......very smart kid, we had better fool him in coverages.

yd1.......thanks for our "news highlites" every Friday....always look forward to what's going on in God's Country.

:woohoo: :woohoo:

Since ogredawg has started posting more, one of the first things that he posted goes hand in hand with you wlayton. He expressed concern about the defensive backfield. Both of you have made some really good points about what we will do or have to do to protect the overall defensive expectations.

I do know this . . . . Boise State's left handed quarterback scares the heck out of me. Even though Grantham comes from the NFL to UGA, with a lot of experience, he along with many others have their problems with a southpaw. Like him or not, Vick caused many defensive coordinators problems. Understand that he and Moore are not the same as far as running or stretching the defense with their legs. Moore however is a pin point passer, which Vick was not.

Agree with you guys, somehow have to get pressure on Moore, and their head coach understands that also. To me, this is a scary opener. I see folks around the internet (UGA folks) talking about whipping their butts by x number of points. Better get rid of those rose colored glasses and try living in the real world.

Just my thoughts.

Go Dawgs . . . Boise will show up . . . . coach'em up!!
