Buc, both you and WD are spot on.

I really like Theus and he certainly gives it all he has.....plus believe he has a mean streak in him as well. Maybe guard would have been better like you said, certainly at the next level.

Can't see him as a tackle in the NFL.

With you Buc about Kirby and what's going on in Athen's. The excitement and new blood (UGA blue blood) is what the program needed in a big way.

May open my wallet again soon. B)

wlayton, today's mail had three (3) pieces from the University of Georgia.

The Group did not lose any time trying to make up for lost time.

I will again loosen my purse strings "if" I see what I "think" I see.

Still do not have absolute trust in those above Kirby Smart.

One of my problems . . . . the previous coach made over four million a year. Kirby Smart comes in below that number.

This is what I "know". . . . Kirby damn near became the head coach of the Gamecocks.

Still having nightmares about that.

Fix the plumbing Greg McGarity.

The best way to lose a team is to see this kid come in and have the spot without working for it and earning it. I do think he will be starting by midway through the season, but would kinda like to see Ramsey be named "starter" in August and then let them compete.

Know this: IF our new OC is all that, Ramsey has the tools to do well in a system like his. Lot's of play action. Shotty stunk.

Either way, I have faith we are in good hands.

We won't get any 5 star QB's in the 2017 class most likely but what we need to do in order to build depth is to get a scrappy 3 star type, and maybe a veteran JUCO type. Then 2018, there will be enough seperation between Eason and the new guy to nab another 5 star.

BulldogShannon,

Ehhh...I don't know. Our QB situation is so atrocious that Eason may be the only option. We'll see, you might be right. And I agree that having a competent offensive coordinator may indeed be a remedy to Ramsey's total crap-the-bed season, but I still focus in on some of the judgements that he made this past season. He never one time showed any poise under the center, but I'm not willing to totally write him off.

Having a coach that (shock the world) embraces the reality that a backfield has to have an offensive line to be successful, this only bodes well for Ramsey. One of the greatest problems that QBs coming out of high school have, moreso than any other position, is adjusting to the speed of the game. This is why, as cool as it is to get 5-star recruits, I still don't get that tingly feeling up my leg over recruits. Would I rather have a 5-star than a 4-star? On paper, sure. But paper isn't everything, and every team has a laundry list of "the next great" whatever that was coming along holding his 5000 star recruiting badge that busted in college. Conversely, those same teams have a laundry list of 3 star players that blew up in college. Need I name Todd Gurley?

Back To Ramsey...

Having a good O Line enables the QB to slow the game down a little (or a lot), and for Ramsey, it will determine just what kind of package the kid is. I still say he's at a disadvantage to Eason as it stands out of the gate. And as far as losing the team to the ego of a freshman starter, I have no doubt that CKS will keep that JV crap in check.

The excitement in the air in Athens has made me commit to going down to Jacksonville this coming year. I stopped going in 2010 and said I would not return until Richt was gone. Thankfully, McGarity only made me wait 5 years.

Yeah Buc, Chaney reminds me of the old OC Ralph Friedgen. RF knew every scheme in the book and could suit it to his talents.

Still think he was fired at Maryland after a 10-2 season because he did not "look" the part. The best OC I ever saw. My opinion, but I think one that has some merit.

Urban Meyer studied Chaney years back to learn the spread. Chaney knows power football too. Not going to have deer in the headlights come game day.

Real coaches in Athens now.

Hope Scherrer gets the DC job.

After hearing we missed out on Cochran, looked at video of Hocke--same style as Cochran. Only started in December , gonna take a couple years to get the power up.

I say keep him

Nope... can't see Theus as a tackle at the next level, but maybe he can transition to guard and maybe he can continue to develop and maybe make it as a RT, but not left.

People think of the line as the "big uglies", but I think few outside of the game understand how complex line play is. We know about the strength and all that, but playing tackle, especially on the left side requires incredible and precise footwork and a deep understanding of leverage. Centers have to be able to read and call out defenses for blocking schemes. There's a lot more here than big and ugly.

Again... many don't know, but the OL is where you'll find the most intelligent men in the NFL, and that's a fact.
