This thread is about Eason, will post this here, just because.

Mike Ekeler, I am going to miss Mike. He is first off what I would classify as a "true football coach".

Kirby Smart knows this, but I am on board with Coach Smart. This is his football program now. All of us knew that there were going to be changes, in my opinion, extensive changes.

Do not have a clue where Coach Mike Ekeler will end up, wherever it is, some university got one hell of a coach.m

Mike had this to say about the Classic City, one of the few that have come and gone that say this . . . . openly.

“We’ve been all over the country, and I’ll tell you what: I’m going to shed a bunch of tears leaving this place,” Ekeler said. “Athens is such an unbelievable town and our neighborhood is phenomenal, all the people here are just amazing. It’s the best place we’ve ever lived and it’s not even close. It’s been awesome.”

Thank you Coach Mike Ekeler. I hate to see you leave.

I think it's way too early to pencil in JE as starter day 1. Stafford was rated higher than Eason ( on that number rating, not star rating)and it was game 4. The best way to lose a team is to see this kid come in and have the spot without working for it and earning it. I do think he will be starting by midway through the season, but would kinda like to see Ramsey be named "starter" in August and then let them compete.

Know this: IF our new OC is all that, Ramsey has the tools to do well in a system like his. Lot's of play action. Shotty stunk.

Either way, I have faith we are in good hands.

We won't get any 5 star QB's in the 2017 class most likely but what we need to do in order to build depth is to get a scrappy 3 star type, and maybe a veteran JUCO type. Then 2018, there will be enough seperation between Eason and the new guy to nab another 5 star.

Interesting post Shannon, good post.

Say that for this reason . . . .

From what I understand, Kirby Smart is the type coach that is basically balls to the wall. Meaning, the hype and scouting reports are now in the "suspense file". The term "showtime" fits from all I can gather over a period of time.

I look at the process that went on in Tuscaloosa with the quarterbacks. The end result was someone stepping up and taking the position.

Believe that is another reason that Kirby hired a tried and true offensive coordinator that was not "slotted". Again meaning, able to step outside of the box and coach the talent on campus.

Like what you had to say, it was thought out.

Believe I am the one that often said prior to knowing for sure that Jacob Eason would be on campus . . . . Jacob Eason has not faced the high school competition that many in the Southeast have, for many years.

Would like nothing more than to see the quarterback position ready to go in game one, and every game thereafter.

Jacob Eason coming early will now see just how good the "practice talent" is in Athens. Defense in Athens was left to Kirby Smart with some very good football players.

Feel good about where the program is heading Shannon.

Kirby Smart is not reluctant to make decisions. That includes Greg McGarity backing off and letting the "coaches coach".

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I'm busier than all get out and won't have time to read the whole board for a bit, but:

1) So much for the "there goes the '16 recruiting class" theme.

2) Stafford never played in an SECCG. All these shiny skill players need big mean guys in front of them. CKS knows that. Everybody on this board knows that.

The U better hope the previous HC has figured that out.

Good news today!
