Watched the Alabama/Auburn game on SEC Network again this morning.
Tells me a couple of things.
Gus Malzahn is on the same path that MR was on when the "noise" started to get louder. There was always one more assistant that could be released prior to getting rid of the real problem(s).
Gamecocks latest hire shows that they will put up with distractions if the program can again win or perform at a higher level.
In a way Steve Spurrier spoiled the fans in South Carolina, proved that solid coaching wins football games and fans. Many times SS did that at MR's expense. As Spurrier often said . . . . could not figure out how UGA could not win on a consistent level with the quality of recruits that Richt had in Athens. Some of that was "needling" but it was wrapped around truth.
Feel the same as many others do on this board, it was time to start over and maybe this time get it right.
Also feel that our program has been cleansed from the past. In my opinion a cleansing that was needed before Mark Richt. Basically what we got after four or five years from Mark Richt was the same "stuff" that we had watched for years and years under VD. Know that upsets some of the younger folks. Some of us older guys had traveled that same road before, not the first time in the water for us.
Francis, your silence is deafening.
