I actually believe this shows the confidence KS has in his process. He is thinking long term--not the quixk sizzle hire where the DC/OC will bolt in 2 year.

KS does not need a sizzle name at DC because many recruits already said it doesn't matter--they know KS reputation.

The most important thing is hauling in 5 star OL/DL and a stable of big strong RB's, and then having an OC just not screw the play calling up

You said, I believe.

A bit amused at some of the early chatter about UGA slipping. Slipping in wins? Slipping in recruiting battles? Slipping in game day decisions?

With you Shannon. Finally the University of Georgia has a stable hand on the program.

All I have to do is look back at the hires, have said this before.

We now have a head coach that comes from the Defensive side of coaching.

Probably should not say this, but will.

Mark Richt was the last remaining coach that VD was involved with one way or another. VD did not believe that Erk was the right man for the job in Athens. I also know why . . . . Erk proved just how good he was when he took a ride to Statesboro and produced winners. In that time, anyone that thinks VD was that good, check his hiring practices.

This old fart is damn glad to have someone with the background that Kirby Smart brings to Athens. Finally, we bring a coach (defensive coach) that understands SEC Football.

Offensive football is enjoyed by many, but the "old timers" understand that you have to play defense in the SEC. You have to have a punting/kicking game.

Gus Malzahn was not the first, but on occasion some hot shot coach rises up quickly, normally a coach like Gus that has a trick play or two, or maybe I should say, a rabbits foot, all of us know that the rabbit was not lucky.

I will not make excuses, Wartdawg will appreciate that. Fully believe that 2016 is going to be much different than what we have watched under the previous head coach.

Kirby Smart will get all of the things he is faced with in the past few days and maybe more days to come that will be crowded taken care of. Allow me this . . . . Mark Richt on his best day or days in 15 years could not come close to handling the same situation that Kirby Smart is going through now.

Going to say it again . . . . I am the happiest UGA person on the planet that VD's hold on UGA is over.

Comes a time when "old folks" need to "flush the BS" and my promise to board members and those that read Dawgs.com, happy days are here again. It has been a lot longer than 15 years.

For sure, I will have more to say, need to get it out of my system. What you think Chief Growl, Dawg With Style. Enough is enough. DWS your Dad, bless his soul would love what is going on in the Classic City. Yes I remember the photos that you posted on Dawgs.com.

Go Dawgs, "A New Beginning" . . . . I Believe. :)

Pruitt is a good coach but I am not surprised he went back to Alabama.
Personally, I think Rocker could take that job and do just fine.

turned around that D pretty quickly.

Some have noted that we still got lit up pretty well against the 3 decent opponents we played, but those were the 3 opponents where we needed the depth CKS said he
knew we didn't have. I'm not so sure we can place that depth issue on Pruitt as he
was working under a man with a proven history of not emphasizing depth to the point of sometimes even under-recruiting.

Anyway... don't want to go back down that rabbit-hole about the former staff..

Just sorry to lose CJP... good guy, good job. CKS better hire one just as good.

The absolute F'ing truth Wartdawg.

Shannon, you know as many of us do, the "leadership" was non existent on the offensive side of the ball. The Carney got away with a lot of BS, he smiled all the way to the bank.

Allow me this.

Anyone on Dawgs.com believe that Mark Richt will continue to coach or act like he is coaching in Miami as he did in Athens?

Bet this . . . . He "learned" some things when coaches like Pruitt/Rocker and Company came to Athens. Also learned some things when Coach Will Friend straightened out the mess along the offensive line. Anyone wonder if maybe Mark Hocke will be asked to move to Florida? Took 15 years for Mark Richt to learn a "lesson or two" at our expense. Did I say at our EXPANSE"? Sure did.

As far as I'm concerned, we already have a GREAT defensive coordinator - his name is "Kirby Smart" and he had a little "success" at Alabama. Not to say that he shouldn't get another just like Pruitt - I'd like to have kept him - but we are going to be JUST FINE on defense, I think. I think whoever gets the job will be in a learning mode from one of the greats.

Offensive Coordinator is another question, but KS has my faith. I'm sure he's thinking long term - make sure he gets this one right.

And Wartdawg is right though. A lot of the points against us in our 3 losses came at the hands of special ed teams and an offense that did absolutely NOTHING.

I'm just sitting back enjoying the show right now. We'll be fine.
