MEH!!!....

Typical off-season Richtisms. Just a little bloody red meat tossed out there for the hungry hoards. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut, given enough time!

Thanks for the 1984 throwback! I was a sophomore then and THAT was the loudest I ever heard Sanford. Kevin Butler is a great Dawg and and even greater man. I met him shortly after the Clemson game and we would cross paths several times before he graduated. He never forgot my name. Saw him a few years ago at a game in Sanford and he still remembered me. Says a lot about character!

Looking forward to the forthcoming season, but I'm not expecting much. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised then constantly dismayed!

GO DAWGS!!!!

Buc wrote: yankeedawg1, like what you say in your post about pound it, and we will. Dead on. Cannot have the amount of talent that we have and not use it properly. This is not Mike Bobo in the learning stages. Reading and talking to everyone that I can, most (that I know) also seem to think that Bobo has a good grip on the 2014 Season.

A lot of the discussions down my way move back to AM coming to the line and doing what skill folks are supposed to do. That usually takes the conversations to Hutson Mason and his time on campus.

I believe this and will either take my "licks" or "crow" like a . . . . stop . . . . bark like a shouldered Dawg either on point or baying. Hutson Mason is not going to step past what he can do. Does he know the playbook? Silly question. There are times when "outstanding skill" can accomplish more than most signal callers can. Hutson has said more than once in this off season that he "knows" where he stands with this group of athletes. I believe that.

Anyone of us that think that Hutson has a noodle for an arm, we should not be talking football.

Question. Who are you going to spy on? Hutson Mason? Hutson has a chance to run up some very good numbers and make folks wearing the Red and Black happy campers. Dumb ass he is not.

Hutson Mason's talent is this . . . . he knows where every player on the offense needs to be on any call he makes. Going to be a great way for Hutson to end his college career.

Yes, I am a huge supporter of Faton Bauta. That discussion will be for another time. Hutson stays healthy, offensive line comes to play, we win not only the Clemson game, we will beat South Carolina in Columbia. Pruitt/Rocker/Bobo, these guys are playing "team ball", many years I have seen "less", goes back many years.

One more tidbit . . . . Marshall is back. He has healed, and ready to put his muscle to work. As someone said a while back, he did not come to Athens to sit. Seems we have "many" that want to play.

Great, spot on post Buc....imo

Buc let me expand on your comment about incoming RB's looking for PT

I would say that all our freshmen not only looking for PT they will play

Depth building for real not Towel's next man up BS. This group of coaches will build depth on

both sides Of the ball. This freshmen class is coming to Athens with a attitude. They want

to make a difference And they will. A very good thing

Go Dawgs

Go Dawgs!

NC_Dawg, Kevin has long been a favorite of mine. Watched many come and go, Butler was/is special. One thing that separated Kevin from other "kickers", he would make tackles, tackles that went past the "soft efforts" of many. He had the mentality of a Dick Butkus when it came to playing football.

Often we put other "position" players above kickers, but there have been some moments when all of us "prayed" for that special effort. Like Munson, Butler one of the very best ever in my opinion, football wise and as a "normal fan". :)

Passing along some "stuff" that I hear down my way. When Pruitt took on the title of defensive coordinator at FSU, Jeremy did not alter his way of coaching the players, "his way". Demanding is one of the words used, caring is another. Sure as hell sounds like Erk to me.

If Pruitt turns out to be "all that", would love to be the first person to confront Will Friend and shake his hand. Again, down this way it is said that the "friendship" of Friend was what it took to move Pruitt to Athens.

Much is expected of Pruitt/Rocker and others, personally believe that Special Teams with the addition of Ekeler at the helm (I believe he is the main Special Teams coach) even though Richt "appointed" two.

I have read the following "chatter" in bold type again, one of those vault type things. Never hurts to look back, sometimes looking back makes moving forward much easier.

Before Mike Ekeler interviewed with Georgia coach Mark Richt for an opening on his staff, he watched every snap last season of the Bulldogs’ often underperforming special teams.
That included punt returns.

“I told Coach Richt on my interview, ‘Coach, you set an NCAA record for being in punt-safe,” Ekeler said Thursday. “He laughed, too.”

“I did chuckle because I know I did call punt-safe a bunch,” Richt said of not setting up a return to try to ensure getting the offense the ball.

In the film clip below, some of my thoughts on UGA football (Special Teams) were answered. Isaiah said that he would have to work his way into a receiver spot. What he did not say was, they want me to return kicks, right away. Said before he will scare the heck out of us sometimes, but Isaiah will "amaze" many with his talent. Yes, he is tough to the bone. No fear.

Edit: Thanks again, more than once, Coach McClendon. How is that "raise" coming? Reading a lot about the money flowing into the SEC.

Buc, heard last Friday where Forbes (and the WSJ) ranked college football teams "net worth".

Texas was #1 at $129 million.....UGA was 7th at $90 million.

Interesting. Dove tailed to your last sentence above.
