Buc, I thought the grantham hire was good for the team....didn't take long to realize our problems were much deeper than a coordinator.. That's why I'm not gushing like a lot of posts I've read (not just this forum) about this hire.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

sadlerdawg, Pruitt will get his chance to show just exactly what he has in the bag.

Some are saying that he had a lot of talent to coach at both Alabama and FSU. Quite frankly, that is sometimes a tougher coaching job than those folks that buy in and forget the BMOC stuff.

Totally agree with you that it was a good hire by UGA. richt's coaches had just about hit the bottom and did not see much in the future coming from most. Players know and the defensive side showed how much they had bought in with their actions both on and off the field.

Here is hoping that Pruitt can show more leadership and coaching ability than we have watched for too long from certain areas. Trying to be good.

Buc, thanks for that Pruitt article. Tells a lot about the man's dedication. Reminds me of a Will Smith interview about ":What is greatness"....He siad, "Competition comes down to just one simple attitide: When you and I get on that treadmil and compete, there will only be two outcomes. Either you will get off first, or I will die on that treadmill. You will not beat me unless I die. It's that simple when you are competing against me."

Basically, I want to see that attitude on our defense. The Erk defense. The Lomabardi power game. The 1980 Olympic Hockey team. Hoosiers.

Beat down the other guys willingness to compete.

CMR walkinmg around telling all the players who are screwing up "We'll be okay" will not get it done.

BulldogShannon, really good post from where I sit and read.

Whether we agree with one anothers ideas on how to have a better football team, there is a common cause, even though some tough words are sometimes passed.

Never have I read a truer statement than this one you made above.

My understanding of Pruitt is that he will chew up one side and down the other, before he is finished, the player understands the reasons behind what Pruitt said and ends up benefiting from his style of coaching.

Sticking to what I know, richt is 100% a follower and believer of the Bobby Bowden School of Coaching. The similarities are striking. Worked for a while, but football purist soon realized that the program in Athens was/is caving in, much the same as it did under Bobby Bowden.

Times and people change, this is not the 1980's, 1990's even earlier 2000's. Pruitt will either make a statement for change in Athens, or . . . . who thought that grantham would be gone at this point, especially when he was first hired? richt is here until at least 2017 (appears) also appears he got the message that fans and backers are more than a little upset.

mcgarity knows that he is in a position that could cause him huge problems if certain things don't improve, especially on the football team (the golden goose).

2014, hoping for more improvement on the offensive line. Coaching, not much I can do about that, just run my mouth. I much prefer to be happy, but it does take an effort of those in control to make me happy, hapy, happy.

Supposedly many in the media are saying UGA should be a tough foe in 2014. Lots of talk about returning lettermen. Must not forget this on the defensive side. Regardless of continuing the 3/4, the COACHING methods will change, that is the reason grantham's butt is in Louisville and Pruitt is in Athens.

Watched the San Francisco/Seattle game yesterday, probably many did. Beautiful thing watching the players "flying to the ball". Proves again that DEFENSE is a must if championships are going to be played in.

Pruitt seems to be a "hands on" coach who teaches, not lectures.
The similarities to Erk, well, that's to be seen, tough shoes to fill.
Gene Stallings is a fine Christian man, but on the field of play, he was a foul mouthed terror.
Moral relevance and great coaching are not a contradiction.
