I'll own it not just because it's the safe bet, but because I truly believe it. richt won't change, therefore it's doubtful the team will. I just don't get all the giddiness over Pruitt's hire. Good hire? Yes. Program salvation? Doubtful. I've read on many other blogs or boards that fans are seriously now smelling a NC since the hire. REALLY??? Pruitt knows what he's doing, and obviously knows more than grantham, but what has he really proven to expect a NC? Now before folks jump on that, I'm not saying he's not going to make an improvement, but his 3 NC's are as a position coach under arguably the 2 best defensive minds in college coaching, and as a DC where he took over what was the 5th and 7th ranked (I think) defenses the two years prior to him coming. So what has he done to prove anything to me? Is he going to come in and have our D average 12 points a game like at FSU? Not betting on that one.
Plus everyone is convinced richt will leave him alone to run the D as he sees fit. Possible, but richt's fingerprints are all over the team for years, why is now going to be any different. I'm pretty sure if anyone was asked if richt would "tame" or interfere with grantham's coachingwhen he was hired, they would have been like, no way, not a fiery coordinator from the NFL. Guess we see how that turned out.
Again, hopeful, still doubtful, certainly not giddy.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

If you think about it, how many GREAT coaches are there? Actually, what is the criteria?

Mac Brown won a NC....is he a great coach???...imo, no

Chizik won a NC......uh, no

Miles won a NC.....I don't consider him great

Sure there are many more. Imo, it takes a great staff to win NC's.

Sadler, right, it doesn't mean JP is going to be great. You mentioned he took over a great defense. That is true. But this is also true: he took great talent and didn;t coach it down like Grantham did. (What if Grantham had gone to FSU last year? He would have taken the same talent and stunk up the joint with it)

I would rather have a DC who can take great talent and do what he is supposed to with it. It matters not to me that he took over a great defense. I now have confidence that we have a DC who can just "not screw it up"
