Then recruit and give his scholarship to a big OL

ogredawg, did you play for VHS or Lowndes Co. and when?

Lowndes 72-75. We were not very good back then

I played against VHS in '68 and was wondering if you may have been playing.....you are too young....a puppy. ;)

That '68 team was one of the best ever, ranks up there with that '57 and those 3 teams from '60-'62. They say that the '62 team was the best ever at VHS. FSU wanted 20 players from that team to go there together. Tried to get Bazemore to make it happen but he declined to influence the choices of the players...

Valdosta beat us 9-7....hard one to lose. We were ahead 7-6 and they kicked the FG with less than a minute left. Ironically, they replaced the kicker after a few games because he never made an extra point......just our luck, can't make an extra point but beat us with the FG.

Media boys were posting every possible person that might end up in Athens. None with all of their "inside" information brought it down to Kevin Sherrer. Sorry Brothers, Buc is big on the "I" and "ME" today. What say you Shannon? The pay for play is truly not worth it, me thinks. Buc mentioned one name in this thread . . . . Kevin Sherrer.

Again, check the time lines. :)

My BAD. Crow is in the oven, double helping. Sherrer from South Alabama, not South Florida.

Reason or reasons that I like the hiring of Kevin Sherrer.

Makes sense to me when two of the top defensive hires have something that mark richt does not understand at this point. Yep . . . . continuity.

Pruitt and Sherrer have history together, no walking into meetings and having coaches on different pages. That means so much, as most that read this board know.

Guarantee anyone that Pruitt could walk into one of Sherrer's player meetings and the meeting could be half over, take over send Sherrer elsewhere, maybe even back to where Pruitt was holding a players meeting and both groups would not miss a beat.

That in my mind is "continuity" richt.

Realize that some don't want to hear points to be made about richt's words and actions. Folks, changes have to be made, mark richt has had several chances to right the program, has not accomplished that.

One more very important defensive person to be hired, all are important, but "three" coaches that understand "continuity" in the truest sense of the word can accomplish much.

That has not happened in the many years mark richt has been the head coach. Just stop and think/look at the mess that we are trying to come out of. grantham hires Lakatos, Wilson and Olivadotti. Three folks that had never worked together, not including the fourth, the egotistical grantham. That my friends and board members is on mark richt. He does not understand, but promise all this, he will take the pats on the back.

This group of defensive coaches have probably saved richt's job for as long as "they" remain in Athens.

I don't call this post negative, I would say it is spot on.

Your post IS spot on, Buc. If the D does turn it around and we have a very good season, guaranteed richt will subtly remind everyone it is his doing. But if it's business as usual, we'll hear a new round of "reasons" (excuses).

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!
