Early Georgia -- Auburn Thoughts

Hoping that this week gives us some time to “heal” and get back into “shape”. Amazing how well a young athlete like Todd Gurley can do the things he does when “a tad out of shape”.

Going against the standard talk about one game at a time. If we are not capable of winning this week, then . . . .

Auburn ranked in the top ten. Many of the same players we put a licking on last season will be heads up for a return engagement. The “Home Field” advantage worked in their favor with the shuffling that went on between the master minds.

Interesting how a coaching change, all coaches practically, going from nothing to the top ten ratings. Have watched some of their film, nothing really out of the ordinary. Good football players carrying out their assignments. This day and time, many teams are capable and do run the “hurry up” offenses.

This is another game that will have a bearing on some of our recruiting plans. Far too many athletes from Georgia end up on the Plains. Team starts winning, interest grows, perception changes. Cannot blame these young athletes for signing on with universities that put an emphasis on football. Apparently Auburn has put a huge emphasis on football.

Plenty of time to prepare for a game that has a lot of National interest apparently. CBS not sure if they will select the Georgia/Auburn game or the Florida/South Carolina game for the 3:30 Saturday slot. Know that a lot of the Georgia players like the night time games. Would like to see the stadium half empty by halftime, much like last years game. Don’t feel that is the case this year. This game will be as physical as our game was against Florida.

Get some personnel back from the injury side of the ledger, this could and probably will be a barn burner. Did I say “Barn”?

Keep JHC in the safety slot. Please.

Auburn is a good team.
Are they a top ten team? I have my doubts.
Their rush defense is suspect. Lather Gurley up and let him do his thing.

averagedawg, better offense than what we faced in JAX.

Offensive line plays as well as they did in the first half and final 8 minutes against Florida, Auburn will have a difficult time.

Ellis Johnson is a proven winner at several locations. Going to be interesting to watch Todd Grantham vs Ellis Johnson. Game within a game.

With you on Gurley, do not believe he can be stopped. Only thing that will truly stop Todd Gurley is himself, trying to do too much. Damn Good Dawg.

Edit: Couple of interesting quotes in the article below from Tre Mason. Bulletin board material. They are riding high, perfect spot for another butt kicking on "their turf".

Buc, Johnson is the prototype of a great coordinator but a lousy head coach.
Look for Auburn to fire some cheap shots, their M.O. forever.

averagedawg, would be surprised if this did not end up being "more eventful" than the Florida game. Ellis has this thing about working folks up to a fever pitch. Many do that. Garner has been working on his area for some time, really wants to beat the Red and Black.

One thing that I really like about our group, they won't back down. Might not understand what the coaches are asking, but they can be physical. Watching the Florida film on Gurley, he was pissed, as tired as he was, looking to punch someone out. Garrison has also come on strong, leadership never hurts.

Allow me this . . . . hope that Mike Bobo lets it "rip" for four quarters. AM understands Ellis Johnson defenses, not his first encounter with Ellis. Split second extra time, AM will produce.

Another game where the result goes beyond this year as Buc noted.

This is a war over recruits as much as it is just a single football game.

God Bless and Go Dawgs
