Feels kind of strange to correct you, Buc, as it's very rarely necessary. However, this is simply not true. When Stafford was a freshman, Joe Tereshinski (whatever number) was the starter. Stafford became the starter when JT got injured in a game, then Stafford lost the starting job in a dismal performance, against Colorado, I believe, to Joe Cox. JT came back as the starter, then after losing one or two, Stafford earned it back. Definitely was not handed the job.
sadlerdawg, you are absolutely right. On each and every point that you make. Somewhere in this noggin, just did not feel that Matthew had the competition that AM had to stare down. Situation wise, again you are 100% right.
That is not a back off from your post. You are right, and would expect no less from you my Brother.
At the time, for whatever reason, and I think there was one, family tradition and such had a grip on Mark Richt. Joe Cox on the other hand had come on in relief the year before and saved a game for Georgia.
To this day, I have only respect for Joe Cox. He tried, also believe he stepped down not wanting it to be that way. Just did not have the talent.
Stafford at that point was a bit like Moreno. Players were watching him on the opposite side of the field, watching footballs fly with zip, the other two did not have that.
One thing that can be said for the entire group of quarterbacks being discuss here, all of them feel the same way about Georgia football that we do. Not a "Clowney" in the entire group.
Far be it from me to say that I don't need to be, shall we say, shown the light . . . .
Good "stuff" sadlerdawg.
