AllDawgs5, several things come to my mind when looking at scores, standings, chemistry, team play.
Things like this cross my mind . . . . what's left of it . . . .
Where would Auburn have been without Cam Newton? Where would the Denver Broncos be today without Manning? What is the reason that Kansas City has turned its NFL standings around? Why is it that the Colts have gone from less than good to very good? What changed in Seattle to make them what they are? Could mention San Francisco, goes on and on.
There were some, more than one on this board and others that lived on harping about AM. Wonder where Georgia would be right now with all of the key injuries if AM was/is not the quarterback? Where are those on this board and others that were screaming for Mason?
There are still universities that would have found a way to keep Mettenberger. Same applies when bringing Nick Marshall into the picture.
After the finish of the UGA/LSU game, one of the first young men that Richt approached after shaking hands and a few words with Les Miles was none other than Zach Mettenberger. That was a situation that not too many folks could have handled, meaning . . . . Zach's Mom working for Mark Richt. Richt understood the feelings, said to Mom, take the week off. Sometimes a coaches job has many other issues that have to be considered. I admire Richt for that.
My bet, when the game is over with Auburn, we will see the same friendship shown on both sides. Sorry that Nick did what he did, water over the dam. If he learned from that mistake and he learned from it, good luck.
Will step out further. Matthew Stafford has all the tools. However in my mind, AM is a much better quarterback than Matt. AM worked hard for his job, there was competition before he won the starting job.
Matt, with his talent, was handed the job. That is not a slap, that is exactly what happened in Athens. Stafford returns to Athens on occasion, I like that. Athens and the Red and Black see many players return to campus. Matt could not and not sure he can at this point read defenses as well as AM.
Used to bother me a bit when some were all over AM, constantly. Haven't heard a lot of that recently.
You mentioned points scored after Marshall was hurt. That is what happens when young men taking the snaps have applied themselves for 5 college years. Don't know where this season will end, but my guess is that against Missouri, the wheel won't come off of our offense. Some might be surprised with the results. Damn glad AM is behind the wheel.
Go Dawgs, sure hope that we don't have too many moments of our defense not knowing where to lineup. Will also be interesting to see if Shaq Wiggins starts.
