Not that I want to get into a silly argument, but . . .
I think there is a HUGE difference between the following two statements:
1. "We are happy with 3 and outs and look forward to punting."
2. “We’ve got to be happy with three- and four-yard runs and take care of the ball, and if we’ve got to punt, we’ve got to punt. We don’t want to punt, but let’s not give them a short field either.”
Some make no distinction between the two - I do. Against a top 10 team, you sometimes are only going to get 3 or 4 yards and you sometimes are going to punt. Grim reality, and no one has to accept it more than coaches. Even the Great Saban does that from time to time.
