Yeah, could be a "catch 22" unfortunately. If we don't man up against the run, they could actually score quickly......on the ground.
Sorry people, I'm worried about us stopping the run....their OL is very good and we haven't proven we can stop the run even with the studs we had on the D last year (don't go UF game on me, you can see now that they were just an awful offensive team).
Hope we re-live the BAMA game a few years ago when they said we weren't man enough.
...........
I'm afraid I agree with wlayton. Our D is porous against the run. I can easily see LSU staying on the ground and grinding out 6 and 7 yards a pop and just getting first down after first down.
One thing I like to do is ask myself how I would attack my own team if I was the opposing coach. My answer this weekend is simple. Hand the ball to Hill. Hand it to him again. First down. Hand it to him again. And again. And again. Another first down. By the end of the third quarter things could get out of hand.
On the other hand, LSU DOES bring one less dimension against us than what other teams have had - their QB is no Fran Tarkenton when it comes to scrambling. If given the choice of facing TJ Boyd, Connor Shaw or Zack Mettenberger, I'll take ZM any day. True, he has a rocket launcher attached to his shoulder, but he's got no wheels. That will give the LBs a LITTLE less to worry about, so maybe they can turn a little more attention to getting after the run. When they do drop back to pass, someone better be in his face, because their receivers are studs.
Someone please tell the trainers to get the ice bath ready for Sunday.

I'm worried about stopping their power running game too but for some reason, I really feel like these Dawgs are hungry & are ready to make a statement. I sure hope CTG is prepared to rotate the ILB's some though, AH & RW cannot play 100% of the snaps in a slobber-knocker like this one is going to be. Anyways, no time to elaborate right now but I feel like we're going to expose LSU's young defense much like Clemson exposed ours. They haven't seen an offense even 1/2 as good as Bobo's (TCU, UAB, Kent St., Auburn)! I actually can see the Dawgs (not the Cajuns) taking control of the game & pulling away late. Let's make Sat. night the party of the year so far in Bulldog Nation!
