Time to Talk Georgia/Clemson

Wow, I must say I am shocked by the lack of respect for Clemson in this thread. I certainly expect UGA fans to believe they will win this game, as myself and other Clemson fans have every reason to believe Clemson will win this game. Some of these predictions are laughable at best!! For those looking for a blowout or comfortable win against the Tigers this weekend, you might want to have some strong drinks on hand. You're in for a rude awakening.

I'm not here to convince anyone that Clemson will win this game. Just felt obligated to post because this thread is homerism at it's best. Take off the red-colored shades for a second, and see this game for what it truly is. A very even contest in which both teams have LEGITIMATE reasons to worry that this thing won't end very well.

More importantly, I just didn't want my first post to be on Sunday. Looking forward to some EPIC melts based on what I've seen in this thread. But please, carry on with your unreasonable and ridiculous predictions.

Palmer03, usually there is a certain amount of etiquette when entering a blog that wears different colors, unless . . . . You mention in another post on this board your feelings about offensive coaches, grading one very high and being less than realistic about another.

Looking for reasons of escape, you then want to play the AM card. That same AM played a pretty good game against the eventual National Champion, also an SEC team that has now won several, won't say how many and rub salt into a visitiors wounds. Haven't seen a lot of that type of football coming out of the ACC.

This was your opener on this board . . . .

I'm a Clemson fan, and no way would I trade our offense for UGA's. This is assuming that Bobo comes with UGA and Morris with Clemson, as is the case. OC's is one of the biggest mismatches in this game that nobody is talking about. If you think we only have Boyd and Watkins, then you're just uninformed. Also, AM is what 3-10 vs top 25 teams? Funny how this never gets brought up.

Palmer03, looking forward to chatting with you both before and after Saturday night.

I've been a "viewer" of this blog for a few years now. Decided it's finally time to chime in..

I think when you look at this mathchup you've got to say, "What is each team's greatest asset in this game." The difference in offenses IS NOT the coordinators. The difference is Georgia's ability to run the ball, punch you in the mouth, and control the ball. This is one thing Clemson CAN NOT do. They can "go fast" but they can't control the ball. I've watched a bunch of tape on McDowell. He's a great back with good vision and nice burst but definitely a drop off from Ellington. In any football game who ever stops the run and is able to run successfully wins the game. It's tough not give Georgia the nod at doing this.

That said, I think Clemson's biggest asset is Death Valley. In my opinion if this game is played in Athens or somewhere neutral like Atlanta at the National Championship (I mean peach bowl cough cough.. or Chickfila Bowl rather) Georgia would win pretty easily. Georgia has been known to collapse in big games on the road in recent years (Boise, Tenn, Usc). That's the only thing that scares me but I feel as though they've moved past that.

It should be a fun matchup and I'm excited to hit the road and head that way tomorrow! I think it all comes down to how Georgia's front 7 plays against the run, how Georgia comes out a competes from the "get-go", and of course turnovers. Finally, lets all remember that the vaunted Clemson offense with its Mastermind coordinator didn't particularity torch defenses in our league. (22ppg)

Are you serious? Did you expect to come in amongst a bunch of fans expecting to lose? Not really sure what you were thinking on that one. If you take a little more time to look around, you will find that we ARE concerned about the secondary - there's an entire thread devoted to it. Also, you will not find a single post in here that is "disrespectful" of any team we play - in fact we tend to worry too much.

What you WON'T find in here is a bunch of bad-mouthers, either for our own team or someone else's. You will find that the site is quite well moderated and fair to "outsiders" like you. It's okay to believe in your team and believe that Climpsn will win (yes, we do have our fun with opponents names - we're not all serious). But this is NOT a site where you find a lot of slang, cursing or pointless degradation of other posters. Whenever you visit a forum that is populated by people of a different view from your own, it's easy to feel uncomfortable and print things you might not say to someone to their face. You won't find us to be abusive here, but be careful . . . so far, so good though. "Unreasonable and ridiculous" would be value judgements, and that can be a slippery slope. If you want to disagree, do so with stats, facts, and good football talk, and that is what you will be met with. Run down other opinions and you won't be posting here Sunday morning.
