Not many NFL teams after Saban as defensive coordinator these days. Some are better suited for college and some for the NFL. Saban can do and say some things to these young men that he can't do with the pros. Saban also will not walk in anyones footsteps, has to be the leader.

Garner caused problems that will never get to us, they will remain in Athens, and Mark Richt won't go there.

Problem with Saban in the pros was the same as Spurriers......players had the bigger egos and that just ain't gonna work.....:silly:

TRUTH!

Probably should not say this, but will . . . . Some of the young men in high school are developing the same traits as the pros.

This period 2012/2013 is without a doubt the most "look at me" media hype that I have seen in a lifetime. Much of that, maybe most of that is encouraged by some in the print media. One dude at the AJC is without a doubt the largest promoter of this type of attitude. Walks a fine line so as not to be touched. Called survival.

I believe what we are saying is there is no reason with the men we have on campus, we shouldn't be able to put a solid unit out there. There are always going to be complaints. I can guarantee there would have been some even had we signed LT. That's just the nature of the beast.

I'm not missing anything.

I stated I wished we had signed more O-linemen.

Several people started posting all the reasons why we are going to be just fine there,
so I am said in reply that I don't want to hear them say anything negative about
our O-line for the next 3 years.... ya know.. since we are going to be fine there.

:)

If you're not saying our O-line is going to be great, then I would suppose it would
have been a grand idea to recruit some more/better O-linemen in order to increase
that likelihood.

Which is exactly what I said.

After looking at the example that Buc presented I can see where UGA will be just fine, this year, what concerns me is a couple of years down the road if we don't do something about it. I for one don't care if the players come from Timbuktu as long as they want to be a Bulldog and dont insist on jerkin' our chain to feed an ego or please mama. Give me a break!!!!!

Well I'm just messing around now, but I'm making a point.

All I have said was "I wish we could have signed some more
really promising O-linemen".

Is there anyone here who really doesn't wish we would have
been able to sign some really promising O-linemen?

I really want to make a note of it if anyone answers yes...

That's the only point I was originally trying to make.. I started
later making the jokes about not wanting to hear any complaints, because based on some of the immediate replies... you would almost think people were saying no, we don't need any O-linemen... we're set.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

WD, we did recruit plenty of O-L. We tried hard to get Tunsil and thought we did. My point was to focus on signing what we needed instead of throwing scholarship offers at lineman we originally had no intention of signing. That is a waste of a scholarship was my point. My first post was addressing the fact that we did try to get the lineman. Any how coat it to whatever makes you feel better.

Regardless. Go Dawgs.

A point that you brought up in one of your posts AD5 stuck with me through the night. So here it is 6 a.m. in the morning and I am posting about our football team.

You mentioned that Atlanta has folks from here and there, that is one of the better points that was made in this thread . . . . (My opinion) :)

That post brought back thoughts of a statement that Mark Richt/Todd Grantham made soon after Grantham arrived. Closing the gates to the State of Georgia, keep the enemy out, keep all of the football players in state. Nothing wrong with making that statement or trying to do same.

With the media playing up the lives of these young men, it will only get worse and the gates will open wider. We are talking about young, impressionable high school football players that have a lot of God given athletic ability, but don't have a clue to the way being manipulated works. They think they do, all of us did at that age, later, maybe much later, we began to show signs of maturity.

As long as we have folks like some or especially one for the AJC, this will only get worse. ESPN keeps its doors open by stirring the pot, we are a nation, and especially the Southeast that is driven by college and pro football. To prove a point that I have tried to make, look back through this thread at some of the comments, think there is passion being shown?

Can only speak for myself. There were several players that I really wanted to sign, the one that I wanted the most was Tunsil. Did not happen. Do I think that the failure to sign Tunsil will greatly affect our football team? If that is the case, what the heck has football come to? Down the line there will be more Tunsil's, laws of average say everyone gets a shot.

Don't care how good some of these young players think they are, comes a time when they move up to college football and face the likes of Jadeveon Clowney, this ain't high school football.

Thanks for keeping me up half the night AD5. :)
