They did go the JUCO route, believe they went hard after the Trenton Brown kid. We got 4 O-L in this class. Didn't lose a single starter, and will have many of them back the following year. We tried. All indications had us leading for LT unti the very end. You have to plan out each signee and when one changes at the last minute, it just screws a program which is what happened to us with Tunsil. I would rather the coaches not sign a kid just to fill numbers if they know he can't help them. We have plenty of O-L on campus. No excuse not to have a solid o-line, which is what we had last year IMO.
Again, I am happy with this class. We needed D-L, LB's and Sec more than anything else IMO. Forget thinking about 2-3 years down the line, we have to replace 12 significant defensive players. We got the top 2 rated CB's in the state of Georgia, one of the top safeties and some very nice juco safeties for our secondary. We signed 4 ILB's that all seem to be able to play the game. 2 played in the US Army All-American game so they must not be chop liver regardless of their rankings. Many feel the Carter kid would have been ranked much higher if he didn't suffer a knee injury his junior year, and project his stock to nothing but rise. Bellamy, Floyd and a few hybrids at OLB. Chris Mayes and John Atkins at D-L. Big, physcial bodies, that I am happy about. Then if we sign Toby Johnson, what a defensive class we have just signed. I would be thrilled about it. I didn't mention every kid, but they are all solid ball players.
GO DAWGS, no excuses.
