Well there are not 7-8 eligible receivers and ball carriers on the field at one time, so really for each play there are not 6-7 other options.... The FB is one of a limited number
of eligible players on each play, and if you never use him in that role then your varied option threat is 1 less than it would be if you did use him every now and again.
Plus I am just talking about 2-3 carries a game, and it's not the FB is a more talented receiver or runner than the other options... it's more about using the position enough that
the threat of it is always affecting how the D plays. It's about surprising a D in a situation where they are keying somewhere else.
Uh, just throwing a number out there.....how about 5-6 options. Nevermind, doesn't matter, you're always right, my bad.
