Wartdawg, when I look over the returning group for the offensive side, gives me much comfort. Not only is there a tremendous amount of "proven talent", there is also within this group a knowledge that they can put points on the board. Have not seen many defenses whether in the SEC or outside our realm that can prevent this group from moving up and down the field. Call it what anyone wants, according to Mark Richt, this group is lead by Mike Bobo. I don't find Mark Richt to be a liar. Might not have everything that everyone wants, but it is what it is.
I have always thought that we were too offensive minded under Mark Richt, it is understandable, that is the background that he comes from. Think about that. Bobby Bowden believed in offense. He had some good defensive teams and players, but his guiding light was offense.
Bowden's downfall came when he had too many folks that were either family or friends enter the picture at FSU, thus the downfall. Mark Richt followed that same path up until Greg McGarity came on board. No doubt in my mind that McGarity said more than "how can I help you".
Greg McGarity worked for many years under Jeremy Foley in Gainesville. Foley does not care about friends and family when it comes to Florida football. That is a given, and the head coach at South Carolina found that out when he was released by the Washington Redskins and thought for sure he would be head coach again in Gainesville. Foley does no play that game. Pissed almost the entire gator nation off, but look at the results of his decisions. I have to believe that anyone that works under a hard hand, picks up some of the same traits.
Mark Richt now has a tough ass S&C coach, same can be said for Defensive Coordinator. All we have to do is stop and take a look at those two changes under Mark Richt. Are they working . . . . appears to me that they are. Am I seeing a different Richt this year as compared to his earlier years, know for a fact that I am. My stance has changed for one reason . . . . I see change in Athens, it is not a mirage. It is a sad day in my mind when folks that care about Georgia Football refuse to accept reality. Some just don't have the depth of reasoning to do that.
I was really excited when VD signed Mark Richt, had watched Richt at FSU and know what he did there. Rocked along for a while and then the same Mark Richt got complacent, that is a fact. Turned my thinking to "time for a change". McGarity drove up, changed my mind again, I saw a "results" oriented leader that came from stern leadership in Gainesville. Took McGarity a year or so to get everyone on the same page, but I wager that is the case right now.
I reserve the right to express my feelings and what I see going on with the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Not going to be a whiner, the game with Alabama is over and done with. Time to move on and get our recruiting done and prepare for 2013. Liking the looks of the incoming class a lot, starting to build the necessary depth to play with the Alabama's of the world.
Go Dawg, coach'em up . . . .
Edit: Wartdawg, makes it a lot easier to coach the offense when you know that you have a Gurley in the backfield that can be counted on to play versus an IC that did not have the stomach for SEC football. Hurt every other play. Couple of running backs before IC that would rather play off of the field than on. Anyone that follows UGA Football knows what happened to the other two. Offense is close to having all of the parts in running order.
