Yeah we have depth, but how much do we use them outside of blocking?

I think most comments about him prior to this season had validity, but he stepped it up this year as the season progressed. I don't recall saying much about play calling this year. I just hope he doesn't forget about the TE and FB when he gets a full stable of healthy WR's back!
Another position that we have a lot of depth at is FB, Wartdawg. Like this group a lot.
Merritt Hall
Alex Ogletree
Quayvon Hicks
Hicks has good hands and a huge body. Line keeps developing, along with FB protection . . . . quarterbacks, running backs, tightends and wide receivers will have smiles on their faces as they/we continue to put points on the board.

Wartdawg, not going to go that route. Take from the post what you want.

Need depth for every phase of every position. With the talent on our offense and only one ball, the FB isn't going to get it often and he shouldn't when you have 6-7 other options per play.

Well there are not 7-8 eligible receivers and ball carriers on the field at one time, so really for each play there are not 6-7 other options.... The FB is one of a limited number
of eligible players on each play, and if you never use him in that role then your varied option threat is 1 less than it would be if you did use him every now and again.
Plus I am just talking about 2-3 carries a game, and it's not the FB is a more talented receiver or runner than the other options... it's more about using the position enough that
the threat of it is always affecting how the D plays. It's about surprising a D in a situation where they are keying somewhere else.

I thought we did a nice job of using both the FB and TE this year. As far as game planning, I am not sure 2-3 carries a game is going to make a difference for opposing defense. College game plans are pretty complex and they will cover just about everything. I am willing to bet our FB and TE are both covered in the game plan of every team we play.
I do agree that we need to continue using the FB occasionally.

Wartdawg, in most of our games, we use the fullback as you have suggested two or three times. Not running our offense out of the T-Formations, does not leave a lot of options other than blocking assignments to protect the quarterback. Is that not what I see Mike Bobo doing in the pro-style offense that we suppoedly run? Not being ugly, just asking. Sometimes I wonder if what I read is on the mark. You understand.
