"Those two incidents embarrassed me more than anything else we've done."

growl, saw that part of your post, and I understand exactly what you mean. However, at least we beat Florida. The uniform thing was stupid and embarrassing, but the *kids* wanted it and were stoked prior to the game. I wish I could blame the uniforms for that loss. You want to know what has embarrassed ME more than "anything we've done"? That performance against Nebraska in 1970 for starters. GT under Pepper Rogers in 1974. Virginia in 1979 - oh, that embarrasses me more than if the team played in nothing but their jock straps. Kentucky in front of royalty in 1977. And I'm just scratching the surface. End zone celebrations and uniforms are bad, but bad losses hurt me a lot more.

Buc, I guess I just did not look at things in an all around situation. I guess when you look and the non running game, the OL, AM didn't have much time for thinking . I'll hold my judgement on AM until this season, he'll be a seasoned Jr, so hope to not see the same mistakes. I'm with you on the OL, it seems like UGA should be able to reload and not have to sweat out injuries every year. I know for the past 4 years, our OL is of concern. I don't read or hear about Ala, LSU ect complaining about their OL being young. It just seem like every year this the the mail concern for UGA no OL. Where are all these OL that we signed 3 years ago, 2 years ago, if we have 4 to 5 every year, surely some should be good enough to play if they are on schlorship. Just makes me wonder out of 85 or so players, why don't we have enough players to sub or be starters the next year.

Buc keep me straight!!!

thriller, this is light hearted and fun. Although the subject is serious (if one does not believe that go to the AJC and read the posts FIRST) Know that I harp on that fact, just the folks that collect paychecks need those clicks that try and lead all of us in their direction. The only difference between the folks that publish in the AJC and folks here is this . . . they are privy to rooms that you and I cannot enter. It is called PRESS in some circles.

All I really want is this . . . going into a game, regardless of who it is, want to know that we have some swagger because we are all that. Alabama has it, Florida had it once upon a time, LSU can overcome coaching mistakes because of talent and probably come out rated in the top five at the beginning of the 2012 season.

With the talent that we have in Athens, we are not in the top five if you choose to follow the rating services. Why are we losing some of our top athletes to Saban? Because they have a winning record, bolstered by a coach that has a reputation of winning and proving it. Why can't we at UGA be on equal standing with Alabama, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Southern California, Boise State and the list goes on, much like you mentioned when discussing players earlier thriller. Many fine football players have been on campus in Athens, dating back to right after VD took over, and the talent continued to cast their lot with UGA. Do I think that Mark Richt is head and shoulders above VD, that should not be a question . . . . three damn yards and a cloud of dust, Bobo reminds me of VD, except Bobo will throw the ball. VD does not come close to understanding offensive football like Mark Richt once did.

This coming season we have a great not good, a great receiving corps. We have running backs that everyone in the country wanted. Whether you are for or against AM, he is pretty damn good considering the lack of protection and . . . . play calling that was offered to him. Who is going to replace him. Get used to it, he will guide the offense until he departs or someone breaks his leg trying to get a first down or touchdown.

Guess I come back to the same point that I tried to make earlier, give me the names of the starters on the offensive line. If you can't do that, then explain to me how we will win against solid competition. Gamecocks know every formation we have run for the last 100 years. Want to play Alabama or LSU or Florida with a no-name offensive line? Mark Richt says that we want to win the East Side of the SEC. Saban says come to Tuscaloosa and win a National Championship. That last comment pertains to coaching, like Saban or not. Don't like his methods, change the rules or be satisfied with 10 wins or less each season.

Once again Buc, spot on, you said it all CMR we want to win the East, Saban we will win National championships. Once again I think CMR is a fine christian man, but he is satisfied with UGA win totals, winning just the east. With this type attitude instealed in our players, we will never get to the next level. This is what I was tring to say inmy first post, that our problem is with UGA coaches, not giving the win it all attitude.

Buc, that last post was one of the best posts I've read in a LONG time. You really boiled it down to the nuts and bolts. Excellent job, sir!

And duck, you also have an excellent point there - just how is it that we can have so many guys wearing uniforms, and run out of players during the season? Pro teams START with fewer players on their ROSTER than we dress out, take a tougher beating, and somehow make it through a longer season. Seems like we should have a STABLE of OL. Good point.
