Let me ask ya'll this, do you think CMR did a good coaching job say over the past 4 years. I am not saying that CMR is not one heck of a man and recruiter. I am just saying think and look at what has happened to our program over the past 4 years. We have many run ins with the law, players quit the team, our team gets pushed around by everyone and made fun of that we are dead tired in the 4th quarter. To me CMR is the man, the CEO of UGA players, he did nothing to change the problems we had until we had the 6/7 season. Yes we got CTG a year earlier, but only because CMR was forced to let WM go. I am not talking about CMR character, and he is one good regilious man. My point is that he did no changes on his own, he was forced to make changes. If he did not do one heck of a coaching job this year, he would be fired no doubt. I am judging CMR the coach not the man, and yes we won 2 SEC titles with CMR, but I still say with we had vangorder as DC, we had david green and pollack, these players had a lot to do with us winning the SEC.
duck have to appreciate you coming back and asking the posters on this board to take a few short minutes and express their feelings. Some duck others acknowledge.
duck, you have to understand this also, many times we have gone over this same territory. Some on this board will always put the good man first. Many will point out his accomplishments. Hard for some to say the things that you have said more than once.
Richt came into a very good situation when he took the job at UGA. There were some very good football players in Athens when he arrived. There has always been good football players on the Athens Campus. So what has the problem been with good football players not playing good football. Seems to me a very easy question to answer. Good players, less than competent coaches. That has continued to be the problem at UGA. Good players, lack of quality coaching.
When we move away from the "noise" created by those that want to win National Championships and get real, the coaching staff has to be ready to coach these young pups up. Great thing that Richt is a better than average recruiter, if that was not the case, he would not be our coach as of this minute.
Some on this board and others like to say that if we changed the coaching staff completely, UGA football would go to hell. Probably the most stupid statement that anyone could make. All programs recover from hard times. Take a good look at Ohio State Football. They will recover quickly. Why? Because Urban Liar Meyer knows folks on the NCAA Board and the attorneys that play that game. FACT.
Richt is a Good Man. Getting a bit tired of hearing that. There are a lot of "Good Men" coaching college football. Time to move past what all of us know . . . "Richt is a good man".
Next step for Richt is to "grow up". He has had a very easy ride since leaving FSU. Lots of good football players along with fans and alumni that purchase tickets and all of the other things that promote the game. Some spend extra dollars, not ticket purchases, extra dollars looking for rewards down the road.
If Coach Grantham had not brought his 3/4 and variations with him when he signed on along with a couple of coaches of his choice, Richt would not be the Head Football Coach at UGA as I speak. Willing to discuss that point with a couple of folks that want to move in the other direction. If you disagree, step up and lets have a go at it. Be good for this board to do a pro and con with Richt as head coach. I am willing, who wants to discuss this . . . .
