I have gone on record as saying it was one of Richt's better coaching jobs.
My feelings haven't changed.
He was way too complacent for the previous two years.
Hopefully he gets it.
I'm in a wait and see mode.
As for Florida, one of their poorer teams and Richt's record against them hasn't been particularly stellar.

No secret that I have been a CMR fan since he arrived in Athens. I liked what I saw then, have been disappointed over the past few years, but like what I see again now. I think he is an outstanding ambassador and recruiter for UGA. However, a coach is not the reason I am a Bulldog.

CMR came into a program that had not won a SEC championship in 20 years. He won 2 in his first 5 years. I think you will have to agree that was a vast improvement over past 20 years. He has set the bar higher and we expect more. We expect a NC. I would have thought UGA would have had one by now.

Since I have had time to ponder questions since CMR arrived, I have to ask the question is CMR willing to do what is necessary to win a NC. Replacing WM as DC was the first time he was pushed to make a change. I thought BV was doing a good job. But he and CMR did not get along I am told. With our new DC CTG, I think you see that defenses prepare you for championships. A big part of the puzzle.

Now we turn to the opposite side of the ball. Not a big fan of CMB. I was at one time, thought he did an adequate job the first couple of years, but has not been able to get the O over the hump. Don't think it has been because he has not had good players.

This is a thought provoking question. There are many variables to consider in answering the question. A few that jump out at me are desire, team chemistry, injuries (or lack of I should say), mental toughness, and a little luck. I want to say that CMR can win it all.... Is he willing to do what it takes...I have to say no.

I will pose another question. Will our new AD do what is needed to win a NC?

Pretty much just thinking out loud on this one Buc. I've noticed that YD1 has a tendency to simplify things where I just have a tendency to ramble on and lose my point in my ramblings. It was just good to read a post that acknowledges how much, other than just the head coach, goes into winning the NC.

I gave my opinion on this subject a few hours ago, I guess noone thought much of it since I got no responses. Let me ask ya'll this, do you think CMR did a good coaching job say over the past 4 years. I am not saying that CMR is not one heck of a man and recruiter. I am just saying think and look at what has happened to our program over the past 4 years. We have many run ins with the law, players quit the team, our team gets pushed around by everyone and made fun of that we are dead tired in the 4th quarter. To me CMR is the man, the CEO of UGA players, he did nothing to change the problems we had until we had the 6/7 season. Yes we got CTG a year earlier, but only because CMR was forced to let WM go. I am not talking about CMR character, and he is one good regilious man. My point is that he did no changes on his own, he was forced to make changes. If he did not do one heck of a coaching job this year, he would be fired no doubt. I am judging CMR the coach not the man, and yes we won 2 SEC titles with CMR, but I still say with we had vangorder as DC, we had david green and pollack, these players had a lot to do with us winning the SEC.

TN Dawg, answering your question, best way I know how.

I believe that the UGA football team (along with other sports) took a huge step forward because of McGarity. If I miss my guess, would be more than surprised if the entire program at UGA does not look a lot different after Mac has been there for x number of years, surprised is probably not the word I should use. Realize that I am using the word "I" a lot. Have great faith that someone is running our program, and is a UGA grad. The grads that we have come to dislike, send them to gator country, work well in their program.
