Reunite or rebuild

When Richt first came and was calling plays, we ran a lot of bubble and tunnel screens to the wideouts. We also involved the full back a bit more. It may be technically the same offense in formations and such,
but it's not in play calling.

Frankly that is part of what I would do against Florida. Screens will take advantage of the speed on their line, using it against them. I would run WR, FB, TB, and even a TE screen at them. They wouldn't see the exact same one twice. We normally work our TE's downfield. Have one block down then slip out on a screen would surprise them. So would using our FB for... well anything involving the ball. A screen or a quick hitter handoff with a trap block between C & G could blow right up the middle if their DL was really trying to get upfield..which
is what they do. I also think we could take advantage of
the same thing on their DE's by running right at the hole
between G & T on quick hitters out of the I. Not those stupid delay handoffs when we give it to our RB's while they are flat footed. I mean have the RB's running the basic slam right at that G/T hole. UF is going to try and
take away the bounce outside, and I don't think we can do it despite their efforts...if that's true... let them take it
away. That leaves a hole inside the tackle if you can hit it quickly. Even RS might get you something running that play, but not if you hand it to him in our patented delay
handoff crap. Plus any success you have with that play is the best set up for the play action over the top.

The play action over the top you pop on them when their
CB's and safeties creep up to stop those WR screens.

Plus if we are winning by less than 8 with under 1:30 and we have the ball but can't quite run the clock out...
umm.. how's 'bout we run straight up the middle for at
least a chance of making a first down (and then subsequently kneeling down as the clock runs out.

I don't care if they have 9 in the box or not. You've got a
better chance trying that than you do running the RS 7 yard loss and assume the fetal position crap we used with Vandy.

That's all I have to say about that,
Sincerely,
Forrest, Forrest Gump

This may the best thread in the couple years I have been involved here.

1. I would support CMR if we turned it around. But that is just wasted energy to me; I know he want turn it around. Honk if you have heard CMR say at LEAST 20 times after a bad game that we just need to "look at what is working" or "make some adjustments" or "execute better." At SOME point, if you haven't been able to make these corrections after 5 years, the problem is with YOU, not the players making corrections.

2. I don't think it's as simple as bringing in a new OC. Unless CMR is willing to NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THE PLAY CALLING, then he will only bring in an OC who will bow to CMR. Remember, even though Bobo calls the plays, CMR is on the headset maing his recommendations on every play---not sure Bobo would try and over rule him.

3. I know what CMR's intentions were when he spoke with Franklin--he just was telling him anything he wanted to hear in order to get him off his back. But of course, 18-22 year olds will not take it that way, not will the PARENTS of those kids--and that is where the moral will be a factor. 10 or so parents get pissed about CMR and tell their kids, and all of a sudden you have a "hosue divided."

I'm withy Buc, for the future of the program, he should just step down--even if we have a short term happy weekend in JAX.

4. As far as the Fulmer analogy--someone wondered what would have happened if UT had hired Petersen or Patterson; we can all agree maybe that UT would be better. Therefore, it wasn't the firing of Fulmer that set UT back, it was who they chose as the replacements.

If McGarity chooses wisely, then firing CMR will not be a problem. Meyer, Stoopes and Saban all won a national title within 3 years at their programs. With the right hire, we will not miss a beat.

Stop Buc . . . . maybe we will get more out of Adams than asking folks to be sure and show up on Saturdays. Does he truly think that the University of Georgia started to prosper when he rode up, might be. Stop Buc. Choice of living quarters and parties for family and friends. Stop Buc.

I vote for this . . . . maybe. Main reason I would want to keep Richt at this point. I did say at this point. I believe that we have the coaches on the defensive side of the ball that should stay, stay in place and keep moving forward with their program, and I do believe that Grantham and company have a plan and a program for the D side.

Allow me this. If the Offensive side of the ball had the same type of program laid out, like the D side does and we could see necessary improvement, there would not be a problem.

I look at the threads and posts on this board, and others. Over 50% of the calls on the O side can be called by more than 50% of the folks that participate on this board regularly. If you are not in the over 50%, come join in against Florida. Try calling what you think the next play will be. It will not stress you out, it will enlighten those that have not have participated in play calling before.

At that point you have the right to get in front of the group or whomever is in the particular place you happen to be, to say . . . . "See, I told you what they were going to run". Sound like fun and games, it is not, pp's me off. Too often we are right.

Would love to see UGA go into JAX and do something out of the normal. Know what I mean, something like Rodgers from Vanderbilt did against UGA.

Fake punt, again from Vandy this time . . . . Richt said that he started to call a time out, knew something was wrong, the line shifted, making the center eligible, he however did not call a time out. That my Brothers is in his post game tape coming from his mouth. Thought maybe I might see that posted here this week, but did not, so I posted it tonight. Don't think I missed it, read everything that is listed.

Have to say this . . . . Florida will not allow IC to make that little move outside and down the sideline. They will keep IC inside the ends/tackles, not outside. RS can't do that against Florida, not enough speed or balance. Where does that leave our offense? I have thoughts, many will read this post, contribute, tell me what you would do against the Florida defense. If you participate in this little show and tell, I promise you I will. We have many on this board that have a solution better than Bobo's, so lets go with our plan, maybe we can win in JAX. Means a lot my Brothers, win in JAX and many things could change quickly in our program. Both sides of the "island".

Come on fellows, lets tell Bobo what we will or would not do . . . . fair enough, I think so.

Go Dawgs!! Game plan from the masses. Bobo, you listening? :)

buc, you just summed up my platform for wanting to keep CMR around for now. I have said it before and will say it again for the third time, that there is a good staff assembled on the defensive side and I would hate for them to not get a chance to fully engage that junkyard D we all see on the horizon. IF the same caliber of coaching can be brought in on the offense I feel the winning ways and tradition of dominating opponents will be back. Even a "Franklin" or a "Muschamp" can realize that if CMR goes, they all go and will be competing against us at other programs(except bobo of course).

CMR is the "CEO" of this program and every good CEO surrounds themselves with talent below them that is far superior to their own. We see it on the D, time for bobo to go and start the process on the offense. I have been completely opposed since day one of having a former WR coach RBs and a former RB coaching receivers and no one coaching the darn ST.

Also funny that while at the UT game I successfully called(guessed) at least 50% of the offensive calls while in the red zone. Called them out and got a few strange looks from those sitting around me in orange. Had to explain I'm no genius and that our OC just sucks and is predictable.

I gotta say that wartdawg is right on the money. I know its going to be something to see if we can get those 320lb guards to pull and hit the other side of the line, but, if they ever get the hang of it it will be awesome to see. Need a little more speed at that position to really get that going and I'm not sure the guys that are there will be able to do it. I like the idea of the short passes over the middle to loosen em up and then get the running game going. Our OC may not be able to pull this off, we'll just have to see. GATA!!!!! SIC EM DAWGS

DawgnLA, always enjoy reading what you have to say. You seem to be that reason in the "middle" that so many different situations need and require if a settlement is to be had.

Thought about this board and other sites last night and have settled in on sitting back now and watching what develops. Don't think there is much more that I can say without repeating myself. Do that sometimes anyway . . . . comes with age. :)

JAX will answer many questions that some of us have. These two teams are basically equal in talent, stronger in some areas, weaker in others. There is no reason for both sides not to come out and maybe play the game of their life or game of the year. Both sides have had defeats that did not sit well, meaning maybe games that should not have been lost.

Going to keep this post on Florida, know that Auburn will come around soon enough.

Next week should be interesting, there will be a lot of "hype" flying both ways. At the end of the day, hope we come away with a victory of course. Don't lay an egg, play hard and let the chips fall where they may.

Go Dawgs!! :)

Edit: I really like the fact that we are agressively going after the O and D linemen.
