Reunite or rebuild

As I sit here in my hotel room in Kansas City, MO/KS wishing it were Fri. night already so I could come back home to Georgia I find myself pondering. I've been doing a lot of that lately & after reading every single post on here for many, many moons now, I find myself asking a question which I can't seem to answer (HINT: skip to the bottom of thread if you don't have the patience to read through all of my ramblings):

I think even the most loyal CMR supporters are going to be ready to march on the Richt manor w/pitchforks raised & torches lit IF we don't beat Florida this year (Buc's last post in the Officiating thread inspired me to write that). Honestly though, at this point, I'm starting to feel that the DawgNation has turned into Tennessee during the final year of the Phil Fulmer era. I'm pretty darn confident that AT LEAST 50% of us Dawg FANaticS want him gone & the other dwindling half (approx.) that support CMR want him to:
(a) stay at all cost OR
(b) think he's too darn nice & he's done too much for our program to turn their backs on him

I would venture to say that less than 10% of the Richt supporters fall into category (a) (pure speculation on my part but something I've been considering lately as I read these posts).

Back to comparing us to VolNation circa 2008...their fanbase was SO divided that the entire football program was suffering; players, coaches, trainers, waterboys, cheerleaders, fans, etc.. Makes me wonder, what's the old saying about a house divided? Actually, it's not a saying, it's a red-letter verse from the Bible, but most people atrribute it to Abe Lincoln.

Back to the point here: we are a house divided folks & after reading all of the Richt bashing (even on this site full of folks whose opinions & insights I truly repect) following the Vandy incident, I'm just afraid that our divided house is beyond repair. Hopefully I'm wrong but I just don't see ANYTHING Richt can possibly do at this point to win back the MAJORITY of the fanbase. Even if we SOMEHOW were to run the table, crushing Florida, Auburn, & Tech in the process, he'll still NEVER win back ALL of the fans. Even if by some unimaginable football miracle we ended up beating a 12-0 Bama/LSU team & winning the SEC Title, I'm still pretty sure I could name a few posters on our beloved forum here that would still acknowledge that they wanted Richt to leave.

IMO, this is a sad state of affairs we find ourselves in. We are starting to spend more time arguing with each other (like UT fans in 08) than rooting for our team & that just ain't what being a Bulldog fan is all about. I sure as hell don't want to suffer through as many losing/rebuilding seasons as UT has ever since they let Fulmer go but quite frankly, I'm sick & tired of wondering/analzing/discussing if our Head Coach is fit to lead us any longer.

Obviously Kiffin was a terrible hire for the Vols & I really don't have any doubt that McGarity would make a similar blunder in the hiring dept. but sheesh, we have recently seen one of our own rivals find out the hard way that the grass ain't always greener on the other side. On the other hand, had the Vols hired somebody like Gary Patterson or Chris Peterson instead of Kiffin/Dooley where would they be today? Unfortunately, we'll never know. Regardless, should Richt end up staying, I just hope he surrounds himself w/the best staff possible w/in the University's budget & he coaches like his life depends on it. Should Richt go, I just hope whoever the University hires surrounds himself w/the best staff possible w/in the University's budget & he coaches like his life depends on it. Nonetheless, this is the question that keeps running through my mind:

What is the best outcome for the University of Georgia...Reunite under Richt or Rebuild under Coach TBD?

Like I said to begin, I don't have the answer to my own question but in my state of confusion I'm taking the simple approach of ROOT LIKE HELL FOR COACH RICHT because the way I see it, I'll have plenty of time & energy to root like hell for Coach TBD when the time comes!

Get rid of the people at the top and go a different direction. History has shown that can be done quickly and effectively.

Great post Goose....

I am having trouble letting go of the descent man Richt has been. I can admit that. This week has been tough to stay on the Richt train, or "island". I have seen more video.last night, and it is very disheartening to see him seem to bad mouth players and coaches.

I don't believe there is enough good P.R. for him to recover. Only time will tell. It may become easy after the UF game, if they lose.

I still would like them to win out, but McGarity has got his worked cut out for him.

Go DAWGS!

I guess I'm different. I honestly don't care who coaches the team. I only want championships. For all I care, we could hire Ron Zook, Urban Meyer, Steve Spurrier, Lou Holtz . . . heck, even the late Mr. Fred Rogers or maybe even Madelaine O'Hare could coach the team, as long as we WIN, baby. I don't need Nick Saban to be happy. I'll be happy with freakin' Carl Sagan, if he wins CHAMPIONSHIPS!!

Right now, if we run the table, I'm in anybody's corner, including Richt.

Win. Got a weak personality? Winner? I'll take you. Got a strong personality? Loser? Get lost. Vice versa. If Mike Bobo could win it all, I'd want him for Head Coach. I'd hire SeeVee if the guy would win us some championships.

However, if we DO have to hire a new coach, it better NOT be one of my Christian brothers. I want a cursing, swearing, chair throwing, God-denying, evangelical ATHEIST! Then if he turns out to suck, I won't have to listen to my religion being brought down for no reason.

Oh yes. I don't think it was UN-fortunate that Tennessee hired Kiffin/Dooley. I'm GLAD they didn't hire Patterson or Peterson. This year's game may have turned out differently.

Reunite/Rebuild.
It's all the same to me.
Having said that, I hope we win out.
I hope the changes made are with reason. I think a lot of frustration with Richt is that people think a couple of staff changes will provide a quick fix. I don't know, would argue that he is responsible for the whole program. Richt is a nice guy but he is not the workaholic you have to be to succeed, year in, year out. My opinion. I respect other opinions. Just how I see it.
The better coaches did not want the Tennessee job, depletion of talent.
My great fear, Smart takes the Ole Miss job a couple of years before Richt leaves.
