GO DAWGS
I wouldn't know as I have not gone to any of those sites.
All I can say is that if a site such as this; where I finally started posting after determining that
it was a place full of knowledgeable and fair minded fans, looks like a fire CMR site..
Then that adds tons of credibility to the argument that he needs to go.
I've read people here saying that we should just enjoy the wins, but I'm sorry... teams like
Vandy just enjoy being 5-2 against decidedly mediocre opposition. UGA shouldn't settle for that..
we should always be thinking of what it takes to actually beat ranked opponents and not be giddy
because we may win the SEC east in a very down year.
I've read that all we do is nitpick Richt, but can't everyone understand this isn't nitpicking
individual games? It's about a cumulative assessment of the state of the program. Many have said
we have so much offensive talent that we can put up 33 against a Vandy despite our coaching, so
no I'm not going to be content with us doing only that. Plus it's much more than just a point total.
It's about continuing to be field goal U. It's about an offensive strategy that saw our offense put up
33, but also not even seriously attempt to get a first down and run the clock out. A fact that
darn near lost the game for us. It's about an offense that put up 33 against Vandy when they
should have put up 45. It's about an offense that beat Tennessee, but couldn't do any
better on the ground against them than Buffalo, Montana, or Cincinnati were able to do. It's
about an offense where we see the same demonstrable problems we have seen for years. It's about
a staff that doesn't keep the tender full of the O-line coal that keeps the boiler running well.
It's also been posted that we should be getting on CTG and his defense about this game for allowing
Vandy to run all over us. I'll grant you that is true, but it's CTG's 2nd year with a new system.
Yeah we nitpick Richt instead... he's not in his 2nd year and his side of the ball is still trending
up despite this minor setback. I would also note that while our D didn't perform up to snuff this
game, what we saw in the end was an O that was content to punt the ball back to the opponent and
darn near gave the game away and asked CTG's defense to save the day when it mattered, AND THEY
DID save the day. So yeah we give a little regarding CTG's D. They came through in the end whereas
our O and their long tenured staff did NOT.
Don't worry, be happy seems to be the call of the Richt supporters, but guess what... After this year,
there will be another. Another when the SEC east might not be this weak. Another when teams from
the West like 'Bama, LSU, and Arkansas will be back on our schedule. Please don't ask me to rest
on the laurels of a 5-2 record in these circumstances coming on the heels of a 6-7 season and
a 8-5 season when the exact same problems still exist with our offense. It's wasted air, because
it's not going to happen.
Contentment.. seems to be a big issue. No I'm not going to be content right now. Seems to me to be
too much like our biggest issue. Our O is content with FG's. Our O was content with punting the
ball back. Seems to me contentment is a recipe for future failure and that's what almost happened
Saturday night. I want no part of this "contentment" stuff.
