Hey fellas...haven't had a chance to read all the posts in this thread so hopefully I'm not mirroring someone else's thoughts here. I personally, think this is being looked at the wrong way. No, I don't know exactly what was said on the field, but I do know that it was started by Coach Franklin yelling at/accusing some of our defensive players...actually started before the game ended.
Look at it this way...if you were at the playground with your child/grandchild and another parent started trying to reprimand/punish your child, would you not step in? In essence, that's what Grantham was doing...protecting his kids from the abuse of someone outside the family (verbal or otherwise) and making sure that if anyone disciplines his kids, it'll be him. As for any argument about compromising player safety....there's a head coach out there who actually sent his entire team onto the field to celebrate a touchdown a few years ago and he still has his job...can't really go after Grantham for this if that precedent had already been set (and yes, I know that was before McGarity, but he happened to be on the staff for the opposing school at the time of said incident)
