CTG.....let's start a good thread

I will say one thing......did you mean he didn't "want" to make a 1st down or he didn't "try" to make a 1st down?

I don't agree with the 2 calls of RS running outside but it is more of because it WAS RS running outside instead of IC or CT......IC (hurt wrist again) and CT (deep thigh bruise) were injured so RS was the only option left. I'm sure he was running outside because it is a play that would eat up more clock and Vandy had 2 TO's left. CERTAINLY you don't want him to throw in that situation, do you?

Of course he was trying to make a 1st down but he was certainly limited and with that OL it was doubtful anyway running the ball (they had 8-9 in the box). AT LEAST if they didn't make a 1st down, it may take 10-15 more seconds off the clock, then game over after Vandy's 2 TO's (if you remember, we punted with 15 seconds left).

Imo that point WAS picky.

Besides....the punt block was THE most ridiculous screw up at that point in a game that I have ever seen. Geez, the punter could have just taken the ball and run around back to our endzone and about run out the clock and take a safety.....again, game over.

I read elsewhere about instead of running RS to the corners, what if we just put boykin in the wilddawg formation and had him run the clock out eventually getting the safety. It worked against TexasA&M when they played Okie St. Just a random idea...
wlayton, I've arrived on your island now.

Plain and simple for 2011...WIN

I think he thought running wide would use up time, but had little chance of actually picking up
yardage. If I'm going to risk a QB/RB exchange and a possible tackle, I'm going to go ahead and
run it up the gut 3 times. That was your chance to pick up the 1st down and run the clock out
never giving the ball back to them. Running wide wasn't going to do it, and we were not going to
be able to use enough time to run out the clock anyway. It was RS in the game out of necessity,
and RS is not going to do much for you running side to side. I would not have RS running side to
side. That pretty much guaranteed you were going to give Vandy one last shot with the ball in
their hands.

I agree you never imagine you are going to have a punt blocked, but our special teams have been
less than stellar all year. I'm already risking a QB/RB exchange and tackle where we can cough it
up anyway, so I'm going to run 3 times up the gut. If I pick up just one first down, then I kneel
on the ball and don't turn the game over to my special teams or defense. Running RS side to side
was once again playing not to lose instead of seizing victory when the ball is in your hands. On
3rd down with 8-9 in the box we ran straight up the gut and picked up 5 yards. Too bad it was
3rd and 14 because of plays 1 and 2 instead of 3rd and 3.

That one point may have been picky if you look at it as an isolated incident, but it isn't.
He's always playing it safe, and not going for the throat. Me.. however you slice it Richt played
in such a manner that was going to inevitably put the ball back in their hands. I would have played to not put the ball back in their hands. Once again.. as an isolated incident, no big deal... but it's not really an isolated incident.

Didn't matter what he called, with our OL we weren't going to run for a 1st down and he knew that, so run wide and use up all the clock you can.

If you aren't going to "play it safe" then just let AM throw a short pass. Bottom line, it didn't matter, if our ST can't get a freakin' punt off we deserve to lose. Use max protection and punt the ball 40 yards down the field out of bounds. Pathetic ST's.

Hey Yall, I will just say this. I like his Fire and Defending his player, I think it was nothing in comparison to what Oklahoma States coach did when he Blew up defending his player couple yrs ago. Yall Remember, and I Quote " Im ah MAN Im Forty" . So I think it will at least fire up the D knowing CTG will stand up for his players. On the other Hand he should have done this in another way, But things happen in a game like this. And Im not saying it was the right thing to do. But I think when the dust settles it will make the guys on the D keep playing HARD for CTG. GO DAWGSSSSS!!!!

That punt should have never been blocked, the player that blocked the punt had rubbed elbows with the blocker for Heavens sake. I couldnt believe it, I'm still seeing red. Somebody needs to snatch a knot in someones A--. If you're going to wear the uniform of the GEORGIA BULLDOGS you'd better start playing like you want to be here. NOW,GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!

The sun shines on a different Dawg every day
