Good thing the Dawgs were not in some kind of battlefield circumstance where the ememy came from the right instead of the left and picked them off one by one.

Adjustments must be made whether on the football field, battlefield, work, career, driving, eating, and even pooping sometimes.

CMR and company didn't actually think they were going to play the same team they saw on tapes did they?

Looking around and ran across this piece. Guess some others think along the same lines that those of us on this board do. (check the time line) . . . :)

Coach Bobo, How About Using 2 Tight Ends??
Posted by DawgBarkCEO on 9/7/2011 7:08:40 AM

Perhaps the deepest position on the UGA roster is the tight ends. When you look at the depth chart you have four tight ends that could start for anyone in America. All-American candidate Orson Charles headlines the group and he is supported by Aron White, Arthur Lynch, and Jay Rome. Each of these players are extremely talented and need to be utilized by Coach Bobo.

Charles was used the most by Bobo during the Boise State game. He is a good blocker, great route-runner, and has outstanding big play ability for a tight end. Charles and Murray also have a great chemistry that Bobo capitalized on during Week 1. Aron White also got on the field a little against Boise State and made one very nice catch. He has proven during his three years in Athens he is a solid receiver with excellent hands. Arthur Lynch was not on the field during the Boise game and I believe that was a big mistake. At 6’5 275 Lynch is the strongest run blocking tight end UGA has on the roster. He is a workout warrior that has tremendous strength and can block many defensive ends one-on-one. For example, I believe Lynch should have been in the game on the 4th and 2 when UGA handed the ball off to Richard Samuel. Instead, Charles was in the game and he whiffed a block on the defensive end who stuffed Samuel. That was a major turning point in the game. Why not bring in someone like Lynch who would have never have missed that block. Those three tight ends are all capable experienced pressure and then you add Jay Rome to that mix. Jay Rome has the potential to develop into the best tight end on the roster. He has the size and speed to be a big threat at receiver and also has the size to be dominating run blocker. If any of the three in front of him were to get injured he is a more than capable replacement.

With that said, with all of this talent, why in the world would Coach Bobo and Coach Richt not implement more two tight-end formations. White and Charles are two of your best receivers! Also, putting Arthur Lynch on the field is like having an extra offensive lineman for run blocking. If UGA were to line up in a two tight-end single back formation with Charles and Lynch they would be able to run the ball effectively. They could also use Lynch in motion as a lead blocker. Or they could go with White and Charles in the same formation to occupy the safeties and hopefully get single coverage on the outside receivers.
Using two tight ends forces the defensive ends to line up more towards the outside shoulder of the offensive tackles. This creates more running room up the middle and makes the defensive ends and outside linebackers have to go further to get to the quarterback. All of these are good for things for the UGA offense.

This is a formation that has been tremendously under-utilized at UGA with all of the tight end talent. I hope Coach Bobo or Coach Richt realizes this and comes out against South Carolina with it as a part of the gameplan. If they do our chances to come out with a victory greatly improve!

GO DAWGS!!

They will run 3 TE one time. The play they run off it will get IC to the edge and
he'll rattle off a 21 yard gain. Bobo will decide that if they gain 21 yards every
time they run a play, they will of course only get 3-4 plays per drive. This does
not meet our 'we're gonna run more plays' quota, so we wont run it again.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

I fully expect to see some outward emotion soon from the UGA coaches. Grantham seems to be a high strung man, not one to budge easily. Does not appear to be happy with Bobo's style of offense. Maybe that is why Bobo is not on the field calling the plays, Grantham is a pretty good sized dude. Truthfully, I think there is bad blood there.

Bobo, can't really put a label on him other than "teacher's pet". Richt lost his college buddy, had his jogging friend give his post up to JTII. Now Richt is being asked to remove Bobo.

Richt is showing his stubborn side again, if that is not the case, then he simply does not understand what is going on around him. Promise you folks, he reminds me more and more of Bobby Bowden. He is certainly walking down the same path that BB did. We know how that ended.

I am one of the folks that said this team could easily go 10-2 this season. Shows what I know about football, seem to know more about drinking kool-aid.

Right now I think we are 2.5 to 3 point underdogs in Sanford Stadium. What the heck went wrong, this is a game in Athens and we have South Carolina between the Hedges . . . .

I'd rather have 20 plays the entire game than 200 as long as thos 20 result in points on the score board.

Where did they come up with the idea of running more plays is necessarily better?

The more plays, the more chance you have a player(s) getting injured. Also, the more plays, the more exposed your playbook gets broadcast to the other teams on your schedule.
Oops. I forgot. Bozo only has about 5 plays in his book so that wouldn't take very long.
