Part One . . . Richt/Bobo vs Fans

13 years 6 months ago #38570 by Buc
Spent some time since the Boise State game on youtube. There were a couple of players that I wanted to take another look at that are playing for us this season, or after looking at the film, should be. We all know how that goes.

After looking at Malcolm Mitchell, no doubt in my mind that he is the receiver that needs to be on the field right now. Don't care about freshman talk and route running and time on campus. Malcolm Mitchell is a football player. God blessed this young man.

Some, probably most are not going to go along with this, but that will be seen after this season unfolds. Malcolm Mitchell is faster, more physical than AJ. Small wonder that Saban wanted Mitchell. Saban's team is strong enough to put MM on the defensive side of the ball, Richt/Bobo's team is not. I purposely left Grantham's name out of that last remark. That will come up in another thread.

With Mitchell and Charles on the field with three tight ends, I think/know we have a good combination of speed, strength and a bit of help to the offensive line.

Let AM use his legs, not sold on or agree with "football management" that he has to stay in the pocket. At this point this offensive front cannot protect AM long enough to make even the shortest of throws.

If I were running this team, that would be a direction that I would look long and hard at. Spend some time with folks down this way, and for the most part, we are in agreement.

Going to start doing some of this type of football talk, maybe it will be a good look at how we play on Saturdays or how maybe on this board we think we might be able to contribute. I do understand that "I don't know what the hell I am talking about" but will see if they do know "what the hell they are talking about".

Folks, this old fart is tired of the same BS that has been fed to us for too many years, game is ON.

Sound reasoning, Buc. When a team's offensive line blows as bad as ours does, a coach with even the most rudimentary knowledge of the game would try to figure out ways to help them out. More TE's, utilizing FB's, rollouts, screens, swing passes, misdirections, and the list goes on and on. What do our coaches do? Drop back bomb on first down, up the middle on 2nd, play action bomb on third, punt. Just keep at it, bozo, it should work one of these times.

sadlerdawg, was hoping that you would post in this thread. Some of the things that I mentioned come from some of your previous work, as you can see.

Adams and company are not going to jettison Richt right now, only way Richt is gone this year is if he has a feeling of guilt.

Have always been a huge supporter of AM, because the young man is like Mitchell, he is a football player. AM and MM can rewrite the UGA stat books, with a little help from others. One of the others is of course Charles, he and Mitchell have the capability of driving the linebackers off of the line along with a defensive back and a safety, allowing IC to do his work. Keeping in mind that AM can tuck it away and make plus yardage.

Richt/Bobo need to stop, look and listen. They were totally predictable in the first game this year and were precictable because of their accumulation of work in the past. Just ask the coaches on the Boise State side of the field.

Not going to just chirp about what those two are doing, have been doing that for years. Going to put some things on this board that I discuss with others, and it has to be prior to the game being played. Will reflect after the game has been played.

Go Dawgs. . . .

Edit: Was looking at some of the other posts on this board, sounded a lot like this one, which I think is a good thing. Did take note of the posting times, don't want to copy, original counts. :)

Buc, you're gonna love these--

from ajc.com--

Georgia gave up six sacks to the Broncos and averaged fewer than 1.9 yards per carry on rushing attempts by the tailbacks. But Richt insists the Bulldogs’ poor line play can be rectified before facing South Carolina’s formidable defensive front.

“Everything is correctable,” Richt said. “The thing that was the most disappointing to me was the pass protection, especially third down. . . . Six sacks are way too many and the majority of the issues were on third down. We’ve already spent a lot of time making corrections in pass protection.”

Either Richt is talking through his hat, or if they are correctable in 4 days, what were the last nine months spent doing?

Also--

Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said the Bulldogs plan to stick with the no-huddle offense they unveiled in the Georgia Dome. He said the decision to switch in the offseason was an attempt to run more offensive plays. But the Bulldogs ran just 60 plays last Saturday to Boise State’s 71.

“We wanted to get more plays, which we didn’t do on Satuday,” Bobo said. “But we’re committed to doing it. More plays equals more opportunities, more chances to score. Last year we just didn’t think we had as many opportunities as some other teams.”

Just keep sticking with what doesn't work, bozo--it'll have to work sometime, no?

I'm very encouraged by Malcolm Mitchell. I got a good feeling about him. For some reason, Richt/Bobo never abandons what fails. There are times where the no huddle is a perfect scheme. Look at the Falcons-Ravens game last year. Atlanta came out in their no huddle and wore our the Ravens defense. Atlanta also has a high tech, amazing conditioning program. When using the no huddle, I'm not sold on the "look to the sideline approach". Why not give Aaron a list of plays and let him call them with what he sees on the field?

Discussion between CMR and CMB on Sunday morning.

CMB: How was church coach?
CMR: Great Mike. It was good to forget about football for a little while.

CMR: So Mike, how do you feel our running game preformed lastnight?
CMB: Well it went pretty good coach. I think we should run it up the middle more next Saturday.

CMR: OK Mike. I feel the same way. What do you think about the no-huddle?
CMB: I think it worked great. Let's keep that.
CMR: OK Mike sounds good to me. It's bound to work out sooner or later. A blind squirrel will find an acorn every now and then.
