My greatest fear is we go 8-5 or 9-4 next year and Richt gets "one more year."

averagedawg, at that point Tennessee will continue to move forward and we will find ourselves chasing DD. Derek Dooley prepared under Saban, he has a plan. His team definitely showed some signs of progress, under serious set backs left to him under the previous bunch.

Even worse is what sadlerdawg said, and I have to agree . . . .

...or, worse yet, a contract extension!!!!

Assistant AD left UGA to return to Texas. That is where he wants to be and that is understandable. He and his wife spent time there. Seems a bit strange to me, but that is me.

sadlerdawg.....after reading and reading our posts, the biggest thing offensively that stands out to me is "inconsistency". I actually believe most of that comes from our hugely, underachieving OL. In many games this past year, AM had to run for his life.

I also don't think you can completely turn AM loose. He is only 6 feet tall, at best and weighs around 190. If they let him loose the way he played in HS, he wouldn't make it through a season in the SEC. Imo, AM would eventually get his clock cleaned......SEC LB's and safeties would take him out at some point if he ran like he did in HS. He's tough for his size but he's not a TT. I would be a little careful with that as well if I was his coach........slide rule or not.

Oh....I would take 9-4 if we beat UF, UT and GT.

Totally agree, wlayton. My only counterpoint to your point about getting his clock cleaned, is there are always idiots like Fairley and Spikes who try to hurt opposing players (which Fairley did), so you really can't protect then completely anyway.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Dowtin, a junior inside linebacker, has been granted an unconditional release by UGA to transfer to another school. That's according to UGA associate athletics director Claude Felton, who said he didn't have any information on where Dowtin might be going.
An attempt to reach Dowtin by phone was unsuccessful.
It's also unclear if Dowtin is leaving on his own or with a push from the staff. Last week it came to light that he had been charged last summer with second-degree assault in his native Maryland. Dowtin was never formally arrested, and the charge was resolved on Dec. 21.

This will free up another scholarship

I think this is another sign that MrMack is not going to put up with ANY situations - if you get into trouble - you better have a mighty good alibi or you may be gone

A housecleaning of sorts appears to be under way in Athens.

First, inside linebacker Marcus Dowtin was granted an unconditional release from his scholarship to transfer elsewhere. And now associate athletic director Arthur Johnson is leaving UGA to return to the University of Texas.

Dowtin’s departure will hurt the already depleted linebacking corps, but it’s not really a surprise. He had the reputation of having an attitude problem, which apparently resulted in a clash with a coach that led to him not playing in the Liberty Bowl despite making the trip to Memphis. And then there was the second-degree assault charge back home in Maryland last May that he managed to get resolved but didn’t bother to tell Richt about, with the head coach only getting clued in last week.

There’s been no word on whether Dowtin decided to leave on his own, it was a mutual decision or he was shoved out the door. But you get the feeling nobody was begging him to stay. If this is a sign of a new zero-tolerance policy for players who aren’t fully committed to what’s best for the program, then it should be viewed as a good thing.

Hey all... this is sorta of the topic on recruiting and I don't believe I saw it mentioned elsewhere. Boykin and Glenn announced that they will be returning for their senior years.
