CMR came within 1:30 of getting fired

Guess I'm just on the fence with CMR right now. Would feel better about his future and UGA's if we could get a MW as the OC. THAT would be the last straw for me and would be hoping the last piece of the puzzle.

Want to go that ONE extra "mile" with CMR because he does represent the school with class and dignity, nationally well thought of etc etc. I know, I know, W/L's are the name of the game with me as well. Guess I'm just willing to give him just a little more time especially if he would go get a Whipple and see him totally complete his staff.

IF it works then everything is in place.....class HC....great staff....many championships. I like a win/win/win scenario. If it doesn't work.....make THE change.

Buc sometimes in my business I go by gut or a tad more patience and not only on facts when I advise clients. Many times patience with a little tweaking wins in the long term instead of changing a whole portfolio.

Can't disagree with that post wlayton.

I have been a very patient man most of my life. It pays dividends in the long run, agree too many folks like that quick fix. Do feel that Richt has had a lot of time to at least keep UGA on an even keel. Would not call his tenure a quick fix. He knows what is expected of him now, and what is expected is getting this train back on the tracks.

Richt wants to live in Athens, he is sincere about that. Some hear the name Boca Raton and think what a great place to live. It is a different lifestyle, not laid back at all. Richt is definitely laid back, and hear me, that is not bad. Like KD wanting to move to the mountains, beats the hell out of Tallahassee and the surrounding area, in my opinion.

Opening game next season, better get our butts in gear. Boise State will come to Atlanta breathing fire after losing to Nevada the way they did. Last time Boise State came to Athens we gave them a pretty good licking. They will also be reminded of that.

Not much more I can say. I appreciate your thoughts and statements. Next year will truly be one to watch from MANY ANGLES. One last thought, MW would sure take a liking to some of our athletes, and our athletes would surely take a liking to MW.

Buc, I respect your thoughts and posts as much or MORE than anybody on this forum. Maybe because you and I can relate because we've been on this planet a while.

Thought you might like to hear what "my guy" has had to say about this subject....not that he's right by any means but he's a little closer to the situation than we are and is pretty knowlegable (his uncle is Ray Goff). Here's his thoughts.

"Frustrated fans want somebody’s head because of the 6-6 record. I understand. I am frustrated, too. You should have heard me at the Tech game. I was so angry that UGA (with all of our 4 & 5 star recruits) was allowing an undermanned Tech team (with NO star recruits) to stay in the game. However, I find it hard to still blame everything on Bobo. The offense has been very good during the second part of the season. I do think that S&C is an issue, but Van Hallenger is Richt’s best friend. Not sure that he’ll be willing to make a change there. I also am disappointed that the OL wasn’t better this year given everyone we had returning. We’re paying Searles a lot of money, and it’s time for him to start earning it. Everyone thought that he was a guru when the OL played so well with all of those freshmen 3 years ago, but we haven’t gotten any better as those guys have gotten older. The defense was the biggest problem, but I’m hopeful that will be much improved next year. I like Grantham. I want him to succeed, but they must play better in year 2. I think we need DL that fit the scheme, and I think the safety play has been horrendous. Ogletree will be very good with time, but for the life of me I can’t understand why Rambo stays on the field. He is not only awful, but he doesn’t even seem like he wants to make a tackle a lot of the time. I repeatedly see him AVOID trying to make a tackle. We need to flush him, and get someone else in there. We also desperately need players with a little bit of nastiness. I’m not talking about dirty as is the case with Fairley. I’m talking about guys that want to hit you. Guys like Thomas Davis, Greg Blue, and Odell Thurman, and Marcus Howard. I think Ogletree can be one of those guys. I hear that Jarvis Jones is one of those guys. We need more though."

Good stuff wlayton. Will be interesting to see how many posters stay with the board and post. secsec told us that he would see us next year, think he might have his hands full defending UM and all those 5 star athletes.

BUMP on the Rambo sentence!!

NOTHING against your guy, wlayton, I'm sure he's very knowledgeable, but everything in his assessment, I've read on this board many times. He seems to think like alot of us that post here.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!
