CMR came within 1:30 of getting fired

A UGLY win - but a win no less

My concern is that with the exception of a FEW players - we do not seem to be very well prepared as a TEAM to play - not sure if it's the coaches or the players or both - I remember if a running back fumbled a few times - he had to carry a football around for a few days - if he still fumbled - he didn't play - on to the next guy

As I see these other games and the freshman playing and making significant contributions - why do we not play them - if they are any good they will be gone when they become jr's - so why not play them and see - if they are good you will get 3 yrs out of them instead of 2 - I know we have played a few - I would think that these big recruits would want to play as soon as possible - look at what UT did this year - they were able to patch together a team with LOTS of freshmen and they ended up the same as us - they got significantly better as the year went along - we just yoyo'd along

Just don't know what to make of our situation - it just doesn't seem to be clicking - I don't expect to win all the time - but at least be proud of how we played

Agree about the freshmen but realistically, depending on the position, some of these schemes and learning curve takes time and can certainly cost you some games if you haven't mastered the system. Some skilled positions have a longer curve. Just look no further than Ogletree. He's going to eventually be a great one but has taken him 3/4's of the year to learn the system well enough to trust using him. In HS just his natural abilities were good enough to dominate......not at this level.

Good point about UT. If you noticed, the first half of the year their freshman were way BEHIND the learning curve which caused many bad losses. They have now learned the systems well enough and have turned the season around......great example of my point.

Tennessee finished strong but they didn't have to play Auburn and Florida at the end of the year either.
Look at the tail end of their season and who they played.
The Vandy game was one ugly spectacle.

Indeed it was. If Vandy had any kind of offense they win that one by at least a touchdown. UT still has a long way to go. No doubt the extra practice time and bowl game will help us both get better and a little closer to getting ahead of that curve.

Still hard to swallow the fact that we have the same conference record and overall record as UT. Have already been reminded of it by a kind neighbor here in Middle TN.
