First, the greatest thing to hear was that the former Lettermen were coming to Athens in droves as well. Mark Richt did amazing things to reach out to former players and the community as a whole. As a former player Smart has a deeper attachment though. Sounds like his colleagues are responding as well as anyone to him being back home.
Plucked the above from Bernie's column. It has been known and talked about on
Dawgs.com that folks the wearing pads in years past wanted change. Maybe the lone opposing player that wore the pads was Francis. Don't hear a lot from him these days.
Maybe I am wrong, but one would think that Francis would step up and say that the "change" at the head coaching position looks pretty good at this point.
Anyone doubting that the incoming talent will be handled any differently . . . . bet this, it will. It was time for the abundance of talent in the Classic City, year after year would be "coached up".
Commenting on what I have seen in a "short period of time".
FSU went from Bowden to Jimbo Fisher and results became apparent, quickly.
Comparisons are "easily drawn" . . . . if one wishes to do so.
Single major change that "I" have seen in Athens in many years . . . . We have a HEAD COACH. A head coach that as Wartdawg and Growl posted . . . . coaches. As the commit WPIII said, watched practice under Richt. Watched practice under Smart . . . . not the same. Players "understand".
