G-Day Game Thoughts

One more thought....

Last G-day game, our coach was on the sidelines some and made trips to the
broadcast booths.

Looked to me that Smart was on the field the entire time, coaching and paying attention to every little detail in every facet of the game.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

I thought I saw a fourth QB in the third qtr who didn't look bad at all. Nick Robinson #17, sure looked better overall than #11. Wartdawg mentioned 4 qb's, thought I was seeing things til he mentioned it. I did feel like our receiving corp is in good hands, and Eason looks like he can get it to 'em with no problem, now up to the OL to keep him upright.

Not sure about what to expect from the "D"

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter's 2 soccer games ran long in Kennesaw so we could not get there in time.

My takes.

1) The fact that it was 93K strong just goes to show that that famous line from Braveheart is true and eternal: "If you will just lead them, they will follow you"
William Wallace telling Earl the Bruce because Wallace knows his own time is up.

Translated to today: "Had Mark Richt been a leader, the fans would follow"......CMR never had the cahones to ask for 93K.

Fans and players alike will follow KS because he is a leader.

2) Saw a few good things at WR but still think we nee a couple kids to emerge. Which leads me to #3 below.

3) After the momentum we seem to have, no doubt in my mind that D. Robertson commits to us.

Yep growl... #17.

Looked to have a live arm and made decisions fairly quick. You can tell he's young and raw, but he's got the QB mentality.

I'm not trying to dog on Lambert... he's on our team and I root for him, but he just looks like he plays not to lose, and his arm isn't what I would call lively. He seems to have too much of our former coach in him, but he may still open the season as the guy. He's a game manager, and that's all well and good but I wish he would make decisions quicker and be willing to go downfield with authority.

His release though.... it is by far the slowest in the team, and I don't think that can be coached up. We won 10 games with him, but I just think he's got some real talent coming up behind him rather quickly. I think Robinson will develop into a solid #2 behind Eason, and Ramsey has a great arm.

We've got to remember though... myself definitely included in that comment.. that Ramsey and these young guys played Saturday against some pretty
vanilla defenses that didn't give them complex
reads. The arms though... that they certainly have.

The ball just jumped out of Eason and Ramsey's hand, and Robinson got it out quickly as well.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

From where I sit, William Poole III said a lot of things that players in the past were "shushed" when speaking about our program.

Guess I am back on "my reasons" for wanting a change at the top. If you have not read the article below, might do so. I found it informative.

Spending a lot of time reading since the Spring Game, close to saying a couple of things.

Not a good read for those that are still in love with the way "our program" was being ran.

yd1, thoughts remain, you certainly belong and most here understand that.

First, the greatest thing to hear was that the former Lettermen were coming to Athens in droves as well. Mark Richt did amazing things to reach out to former players and the community as a whole. As a former player Smart has a deeper attachment though. Sounds like his colleagues are responding as well as anyone to him being back home.

Plucked the above from Bernie's column. It has been known and talked about on Dawgs.com that folks the wearing pads in years past wanted change. Maybe the lone opposing player that wore the pads was Francis. Don't hear a lot from him these days.

Maybe I am wrong, but one would think that Francis would step up and say that the "change" at the head coaching position looks pretty good at this point.

Anyone doubting that the incoming talent will be handled any differently . . . . bet this, it will. It was time for the abundance of talent in the Classic City, year after year would be "coached up".

Commenting on what I have seen in a "short period of time".

FSU went from Bowden to Jimbo Fisher and results became apparent, quickly.

Comparisons are "easily drawn" . . . . if one wishes to do so.

Single major change that "I" have seen in Athens in many years . . . . We have a HEAD COACH. A head coach that as Wartdawg and Growl posted . . . . coaches. As the commit WPIII said, watched practice under Richt. Watched practice under Smart . . . . not the same. Players "understand".

Go Dawgs :)
