Coach Chaney, Coach Pittman impressed me.
Both know what they have in Eason, also know how to use the young pup.
Whether or not Eason was lined up against the first or fourth string in the game, smart offensive coaching has been taught, is being taught to Jacob Eason.
Swing passes are a quarterbacks "life line" in many cases. Watching the play(s) unfold, Eason was "reading" the defense. There were a couple of close calls, but Eason did the right thing, hit the back. That is not a read on certain plays, it is an automatic when playing with a 4/5/6 second read.
Offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, from what I can see, really know their "business".
Many articles that I have read prior to the Spring Game were having their say about our wide receivers. Coach Coley is a very talented coach. Coach McGee the same can be said.
I try to temper my thoughts, however, come September, Georgia would be a team I would not want to face off with in the first game of the 2016 Season. UGA/UNC in Atlanta is going to have a lot in store for the college football world to see. UNC won 11 games in 2015. Do not care who the victories were against, UNC is not the UNC of past years.
Coach Smart as the players have said . . . . pulls no punches. Kirby said this offseason is "huge" for the players in their S&C participation. We will get a better feel for the players that want to play on Saturdays before Fall practice starts. Know that Smart and Company will know the names of each player that participates.
Do I think Georgia Football has taken a giant step, sure do. Getting ready for the talking heads and beat reporters to tell us that we should not get our hopes up too high. That has been a problem in the past. Those that understand the game understand we probably know more about the game than those that work for the "clicks".
The talent that is in Athens now can line up and play SEC Football. Beat Alabama, can't say that. Get on the field with Alabama, feel much better now than the "stuff" that was hyped prior to Kirby Smart taking over.
Have to say this again.
Recognizing Columbus, Georgia and not handing the players there to Auburn, does not take a lot of awareness and understanding to really understand one of the reasons that some of my friends and I chat about just how bad our lack of leadership was. One of Kirby's first hires, Dell McGee, former high school coach in Columbus, Georgia . . . . going to make Athens a better place to watch UGA Football.
