sadlerdawg said in post #38 . . . .
I definitely DO NOT miss the days of seeing the defense give up a TD after a long drive then our series consists of 2 bomb attempts and a draw up the middle, then punt and put our D right back on the field.
Truth told and this play calling went on for years.
Said in another post, glad to hear that Schottenheimer is calling the offensive game. Might regret that statement later on, for now, especially after the South Carolina game, offensive play calling was a welcome treat.
Realize that there is a lot of talent on the offense, however, there has been a lot of offensive talent for years.
Maybe with the exception of the offensive line . . . .

Buc, I know that our S & C program was somewhat behind the times for a while, but I honestly think bozo's mishandling of the offensive play calling and his unwavering desire for the quick strike score had a lot to do with our D being gassed and clobbered in a lot of those 4th quarters where they got steamrolled and were always called out for the "hands on the hips" posture.

sadlerdawg, you will get no disagreement from me on your last post.
Still sticks in my craw the gators pointing their fingers and laughing at us at the beginning of the third quarter some years back. Took a long time to get to where we are.
I believe a lot of what we are seeing sadlerdawg is a young coach that is not far removed from being the same age as those he is training. Don't care what folks might think, and most know this to be true, motivation plays a huge part in body and wind development.
Not going to say too much on this subject, but I watched some of the Colorado State/Colorado game and he was calling the game the same way he did in Athens. Hard to change the way you have coached and been trained to play as a quarterback in high school and college. I remember he and the head coach were giving the cold shoulder to AM for going elsewhere to improve his game. Have mentioned that a time or two.
What I have seen thus far from this group of coaches is "totally different" from days past.
Also say this, appears Mark Richt is staying out of the way. Said so himself after the South Carolina game. I like that he said that.
