One thing that is for certain SS will not hold back any punches so Lambert and Shotty better take off the sparring mitts and be prepared for a battle. This isn't ULM or Vandy...

EDIT: After giving the above comment some thought and after watching SC's first two games I need to add a little bit more here. SC is really in bad shape this year on both sides of the ball and if we struggle at all in the passing game then we need to reconsider the pecking order at QB.

I hope that at the end of the night Saturday that we are talking about our D. They were up and down against Vandy, but I'm seeing amazing potential, and think things would have been even better if LC had not been the victim of a pantywaist replay official.

Spurrier wants to put up some points quick and put us back on our heels - take away the crowd. I don't hold out much hope of us putting 40 on the board, but I do hope that CJP brings an even more aggressive game plan than Spurrier, and he gets a taste of a Junkyard Dawg D. This group has the potential to control the game. If we see the intensity over four quarters, I think we'll see lots of grass stains on the visor.

Go dawgs! This is a statement game (like it or not). Stomp on Spurrier and our stock will rise. Play sloppy and we'll pay for it later.

There are things an offense can do to simplify the QB's reads. There are things you can do as an offense to get the D to show their hand.
It comes down to who is smarter about what they are doing, them or us.

I'm going to go back to something our HC said a couple of years ago before losing to Spurrier. When asked what the plan was going against SC, he responded that they were just another opponent and we were just going to go out and do what we do.

That my friends is the problem in this matchup. Steve Spurrier absolutely does not view UGA as just another opponent. He absolutely does not just go out there and do what SC does. He goes out there and pulls out every trick in the book. Knowing exactly what "we do", he's smart enough to scheme very well against it.
He hates the idea of losing to UGA and teams take on the persona of their coach so his players feel the same way he does. He doesn't go out and run one or two trick plays, play the exact same way he did last week for the other 58 minutes, and then think that is operating outside of the box.

The best way to fight fire is with fire. Spurrier shows attitude about us... I want to see us show it about SC. They come out with chips on their shoulders and fire in their hearts from the coaching staff to the water girls.

For once we need to come out with some of that stuff ourselves, beginning at the top.

Go Dawgs.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Probably some of you folks have seen the video below, if not . . . .

Around the 8:45 mark on the video found Schottenheimer's remark interesting. I realize that sometimes words come out of coaches mouths that maybe should not, same can be said about players. However, there will always be old farts like myself that listen carefully to every word.

Press Conferences (Pressers as referred to these days) are much like a football game . . . . coaches and players have to be on their toes, the opposition (talking heads) sitting in the peanut gallery always looking for that "little tidbit" to create interest. Much like I am doing now. ;)
