What I hear coming out of the mouths of the new defensive coaches is not something that I have heard for a long time.

Might be we won't get all of our hopes fulfilled, but one damn thing I do know, what is being said on the defensive side is music to my ears.

There is not and will never be a guarantee that we will make the final four or whatever that number ends up being. Sometimes the spirit of the word or words carry more value than trophies. Want to be understood, want to get to the top.

Since Erk left, have not been this jacked up with "any" coaching hires at UGA. Yes, no doubt in my mind that Will Friend had "something" to do with the present euphoria that exists with UGA fans. That is very encouraging, having most of both sides on the same sheet or playbook.

My biggest concern is this . . . . If our defense comes out playing like gangbusters, I hope that Pruitt will be able to harness that and still be effective. Not that long ago we had a defensive coordinator that had the national media talking about UGA's defense. Most of us know how that turned out. Pruitt seems to be a young coach that "understands". Lord knows I hope so.

The article below sounds a bit like a discussion we have had on this board.

After reading the article, beginning to think that we might see some shared playing time on the offense.

Regardless of the person manning the quarterback position, it still takes an offensive line to make those yards, passing or running.

If I could make a wish and be allowed to "coach" one game on our 2014 Schedule, it would be Auburn. Auburn in Athens between the Hedges, with a serious running quarterback and the many proven backs in our backfield. Back at you Gus.

Much is being said about our "new defensive" mind set. Good running game, control much of the clock, also makes the defense "shine". This offense has some serious talent, and it appears to me that we are better suited with the existing offensive line, running the football.

Long, time consuming drives tend to make coaches change game plans on the fly. Hope we get better at doing what I typed in the last sentence.

Looking at the video below, running the football just like Auburn did this past season. No secrets, requires an offensive front. Big guys would rather fire out than pass block.

Depending on who we are playing I can see us as a run first team

I can definitely see a running and blocking offensive backfield that could change the game planning for many of our foes. Too much talent not be be able to make Spurrier and others change some things. Clemson first.
