Possibly if not probably, but to some degree the OC will be a reflection of the HC. If not directly involved in play calling, an HC like Richt who came from the offensive side is at least going to be a serious philosophical rub
for any OC that works for him.

As an example, we have noted in the past a tendency to get too conservative with leads... I have 0% doubt that is mainly because of the HC's lack of a killer instinct. We've seen very little change in our plays over the years
has been another comment.. if there is anyone who is going to get complacent, it's MR.. we've seen it in other areas.

I would be very interested to see how CMB would call a game today if he had been working for a more aggressive HC for the past few years.

Just something to ponder..

Been use to. AM was the stud and until his acl nobody would take a meaningful snap unless he couldn't go

That luxury is history. Bet that spring ball will have eyeballs watching when it comes to

our QB. Wouldn't assume anything. IMO. The promise to HM was it was his to lose

Nothing said about being beat by a better player. Competition step up or step aside

Lot being said about clean slates. Can't wait to see what it produces Go Dawgs

I have never beleived for one second any college or pro coach plays anyone other than who he thinks is the best. They see them ever day in practice, and they know who is the best. Maybe fans think the guys not playing are better than the ones playing? I still dont beleive any ncaa or nfl coaches play guys guys they dont believe give them the best chance of winning.

I know some of the favorites getting to play happens in high school and pee-wee stuff.

Side story...
Ive got a friend who is a very good hs fb coach. He is 15 or so years younger than me and I really didnt like him that much when i first knew him. Played church leauge basketball with him and i was at the end of a mediocre amature career. He was the most athletic white guy i have ever played with, and was very annoying to teammates and opponents. Joker could play but had everyone in the gym wanting to fight him. As he aged he got less annoying and i started liking him more. He went to a school in the boonies 7 or so years ago. This school had a history of talented but poor football teams. My bud turned them around and they were beating teams they hadnt beat in a long time and went to the playoffs every year he has been there. I have gone to one or so games of theirs a year. The last game i went to I couldnt beleive all the bitxing by the bros about the play calling etc in the stands. My buddy could beat the poop out of everyone bitxhing in any athletic contest of their choice. Anyhow...

They do play who they feel as best, but different people would come up with different conclusions as to who they thought was best.

I have no doubt CMB and MR think Hutson Mason is the best option. They don't sit around saying to themselves that tenure is more important than ability, but tenure may taint their perspective.

Plus we know for a fact that MR makes promises and is loyal to a fault. He most certainly values things like his word more than winning. I value my word highly as well, but then again I am very, very careful what I promise.

Anyway... still think CMB and MR will start who they sincerely feel is best, but maybe people just don't trust their judgement.

All good points. QB position is harder to evaluate than the others and you will always have different opinions.

Agree.

I have to trust the coaches. I'm not at the practices, all the film sessions, meetings, locker room, weight room etc etc. I don't have the luxury of knowing these kids inside and out....as we all know, there is so much more than physical ability. This coaches see, hear and witness things we don't have a clue about (we may think we do but we actually don't)......simply have to trust their judgement, eventually their jobs are on the line.

That's why I don't weight in heavily on the QB situation wlayton...

FB may indeed be a heads and tails better choice than Mason, but I just don't know. What I know about him is 4 snaps, a tiny bit of film, and hearsay from a couple of people. I'm not quite qualified to start saying he should be the man in 2014.
